What Guests Are Saying About Their Small Town Cabin Stay

Our guests love our properties! Here’s what our recent guests are saying

Robin’s Nest

We enjoyed a nice weekend away from the city! The cabin is on a small golf resort and my husband loved the security and gate for check in. The home was on a small street at the back of the resort with a neighbor or two but had a nice size yard, fire pit and patio to sit on. We took a day trip to deep creek to eat and enjoy a massage and it was a reasonable drive. The owner check in on us at check in and after our first night. The home was very clean and beds were comfortable. We had no issues with wifi and enjoyed the Roku tv in the evening. Lots of deer in the yard in the night and mornings.

Almost Heaven

This location was exactly what we hoped it would be. It was a peaceful retreat in a rustic and fun setting surrounded by a beautiful lake with a lovely trail. We saw deer every day and felt right at home. The men in our group are already asking what we can do next year. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Creekside Retreat

Everything was great! Amazing communication and great place! Definitely recommend.

Ferndale Lakehouse

This place was awesome! wish I lived somewhere like here. they go above and beyond to make this such a unique place to stay. I look forward to coming back!

Ramblin’ Bear

Amazing space and Tony was super communicative throughout. Plenty of room for 7 people and much more, and everything was super easy to find and plenty of things to cook/clean with. Overall great experience and I highly recommend.

Riverbend Retreat

We loved the location of right on the river and within driving distance of over a dozen trailheads and outdoor attractions. The house itself was quite cozy and offered a wide variety of games, activities and books for every type of entertainment. Tony was proactive in his information and recommendations, and very responsive to our every text. I would absolutely recommend staying at the house to anyone.

Discover What’s Around Your Small Town Cabin Rental in West Virginia

The Eastern Panhandle and the Potomac Highlands

West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle puts you minutes from Berkeley Springs, the country’s oldest spa town, where warm mineral baths have drawn visitors since George Washington soaked here in the 1700s. Head southwest and the terrain opens into the Potomac Highlands, where the mountains run deeper and the pace slows down even further. Blue Maple’s small cabin rentals in West Virginia are spread across both regions, so the best of the state is always close to your door.

Seneca Rocks and the High Country

One of the biggest draws of a small cabin rental in West Virginia is having landmarks like Seneca Rocks within easy reach. The formation rises nearly 900 feet above the valley floor and is one of the most iconic natural sites in the Appalachian range. Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia at over 4,800 feet, sits nearby and delivers ridgeline views that are worth the drive on their own.

Hiking and Outdoor Recreation

Cacapon Resort State Park offers solid trail options in the Eastern Panhandle, including a rewarding climb up Cacapon Mountain with open views across the valley. Further into the Highlands, Monongahela National Forest covers nearly 920,000 acres with routes for every ability level and backcountry access for those who want more solitude. The trails across both areas are accessible, scenic, and almost never crowded.

Day Trips Worth Taking

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is about an hour east, pairing Civil War history with sweeping river views and trail access along the C&O Canal. Antietam National Battlefield is a short drive into Maryland for anyone who wants to go deeper into the region’s past. Canaan Valley Resort State Park is further southwest but earns the drive in winter for skiing and year-round for its rare high-altitude landscape.

Where to Eat

Lot 12 Public House in Berkeley Springs sets the standard for upscale Appalachian dining in the region and has the reputation to prove it. Panorama Public House pairs creative comfort food with some of the best views in the valley. In Romney, the oldest town in West Virginia, you will find honest, unpretentious meals that fit naturally into a slow afternoon. Book ahead at either of the first two on busy weekends.

Frequently Asked Questions About Small Town Cabin Rentals in West Virginia

How far are Blue Maple’s small cabin rentals in West Virginia from Washington D.C.?

Most of our cabins are 2 to 3 hours from the D.C. and Baltimore metro areas via I-270 West and US-522. Traffic thins out quickly once you clear the suburbs, and leaving after work on a Friday still gets you to your cabin before the evening is over.

What makes a small cabin rental in West Virginia worth the trip?

Clean rivers, unspoiled terrain, and a pace of life that is hard to find this close to a major city. The Eastern Panhandle and Potomac Highlands offer mineral spas, dramatic rock formations, mountain hiking, and river days without the crowds or costs of better-known destinations.

What outdoor activities are available near Blue Maple’s West Virginia cabins?

Summer is ideal for tubing and kayaking on the Cacapon and South Branch of the Potomac. Hiking through Cacapon Resort State Park and Monongahela National Forest runs across every season. Winter brings the mineral baths in Berkeley Springs and skiing at Canaan Valley. Spring is quiet, scenic, and the most underrated time to visit.

What time of year is best for a small cabin rental in West Virginia?

Every season brings a reason to come. Fall is the most popular, with peak foliage typically arriving mid-to-late October across the ridges and valleys. Summer is best for water activities and long outdoor days. Winter is peaceful, and the mineral baths feel especially restorative in the cold. Spring is the quietest season of the year and one of the most beautiful. Blue Maple has cabins available year-round.
