Wonderful place to relax and reset. Beautiful house in a beautiful place, walking distance to most attractions. Fire pit was very close with firewood supplied. Breakfast was pretty bare and kind of late, but host communicated that and apologized for the problem. Overall the place served us wonderfully and I’d stay there again.

The town of Luray is super cute and the Inn is within walking distance of some really great local spots and the national park. You cannot beat the location of this place! The Inn was lovely and picturesque and had a very cute kitchenette in the shared space. The bathroom was spacious and updated. The room is not climate controlled and in the extreme heat it was uncomfortably warm in the room. There were children in a suite below us, and it made for some noisy mornings. We waited for breakfast a couple of mornings and it didn’t arrive by 9, so we opted for breakfast out in town before our hikes. Check-in and out was easy, and I’m sure in more temperate climates I would have had an even better experience.

We waited over an hour for breakfast, then left. We later saw some people who also stayed at the legacy inn, and they said breakfast finally came but there wasn’t very much (and most of the people waiting gave up and left like us) The lawn was overgrown. The Dolly Parton suite is not nice.

I spent 2 nights here and was very impressed with the house & surrounding property. It sits right next to Shenandoah River & the backyard has comfy chairs overlooking the river, a fire pit & gazebo and bikes! Sara, the house mngr was extremely gracious & made sure I had everything. The room was huge & spotless. Bed was very comfortable. The National Park is 20 minutes away. Tony stayed in communication when I had questions & was a delightful host. I highly recommend staying here.

The Home
The sun filters through the pine‑scented air as you step onto the wrap‑around porch, the Blue Ridge mountains stretching in a quiet panorama behind you. A gentle breeze carries the faint rustle of leaves while you settle into a soft chair, coffee steaming in hand, and let the historic charm of the inn settle around you. Inside, the Parton Suite beckons with its slanted attic walls, plush carpeting and a soaring nine‑foot ceiling that invites you to stretch out and unwind.
Sleeping arrangements
The private suite occupies its own floor and offers two double beds, perfect for families or friends traveling together. Tall guests should mind the lower side walls, but the central height provides ample space to move comfortably. Access is via steep stairs, adding a secluded, treehouse‑like feel to the retreat.
Outdoor living
Step out onto the porch or wander into the peaceful backyard where mountain views frame every moment. The space is ideal for reading, birdwatching or simply breathing in the fresh mountain air. A shared garden area offers a quiet spot for sunrise or sunset contemplation.
Common areas
The inn’s shared spaces include a cozy sitting room centered around a fireplace, inviting conversation or quiet reflection. The entryway and other communal zones are warm and welcoming, fostering a relaxed atmosphere among fellow adult guests. Quiet hours are respected to ensure everyone enjoys a restful stay.
Bikes & exploration
Complimentary bicycles are available on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Pedal along the nearby Luray Greenway, a scenic trail that follows Hawksbill Creek, or ride into downtown Luray to discover local shops and eateries. Grab a bike early to make the most of the leisurely rides.
Comfort & climate
Mini‑split systems provide efficient heating and cooling throughout the historic building. The shared guest space is set to 70°F; you may adjust the temperature with the remote, returning it to the set point before departure. During warmer months a personal fan is recommended for added comfort.
Adults‑only ambiance
The Legacy Inn is an adults‑only haven, designed for rest, romance and relaxation. With no children on site, you can fully unwind—whether that means sipping coffee on the porch swing, strolling to downtown Luray, or enjoying a serene evening under the stars.
Historic charm
Original woodwork, antique furnishings and locally inspired décor give the inn a timeless feel that complements its Shenandoah Valley setting. Every detail reflects the character of the region while offering modern comforts within a preserved historic atmosphere.
