Wonderful! The cabin is rustic and charming. My children said being in the cabin was just as much fun as exploring outside. There is a lot of space. Perfect for families. The host is very responsive. The area is amazing – peaceful and beautiful. You can sit on the porch and hear the gentle river.

This cabin is excellent for a group. There are 3 bedrooms plus a basement with bunk beds for 4 additional people. If your goal is to be on the river then this cabin is perfectly located.We floated from the bridge right to the property in about 2 hours. It was lovely.It is worth noting that there are houses pretty close by so expect to somewhat share the yard and riverfront space.

This river house was a great find. The house is clean and has plenty of space. The access to the river is fantastic and was enjoyed by everyone. We brought own tubes and were able to float from the bridge to the cabin. Perfect spot for a mini-getaway.

My friends and our children had such an amazing time at the cabin. Having the river a short walk away. Made for entertaining days and hanging around the fire pit made for peaceful evenings. We loved every minute we were there and hope to return in the future.
Her host made the stay comfortable. They were very responsive and ready and willing to make our trip the best it could be. I would recommend this stay to anyone looking for an opportunity to unplug and enjoy some peace

Overall, we had a good stay and enjoyed our trip. The house was nice, and everything was mostly fine. The only issue we had was with the oven/stove the flame was very weak, so we couldn’t properly cook our food, and it made everything take much longer than expected. Aside from that, we enjoyed our stay and had a good experience.

Great spot to enjoy the outdoors. We tried our luck at fishing, cooked smores over the camp fire, splashed around in the river. Highly recommended. Anthony was very responsive to all communication. We’ll look to come back again in the fall.

We loved our stay at this rustic cabin! The game room is perfect for keeping the little ones entertained. Everything was incredibly clean, which is no small feat down by a river! The hosts were very responsive and considerate. The location by the river is lovely and we really enjoyed having access to a grill, kayaks, and tubes! Would absolutely stay here again.

We loved the location of right on the river and within driving distance of over a dozen trailheads and outdoor attractions. The house itself was quite cozy and offered a wide variety of games, activities and books for every type of entertainment. Tony was proactive in his information and recommendations, and very responsive to our every text. I would absolutely recommend staying at the house to anyone.

The property of this cabin is absolutely beautiful. We loved the park like setting, huge grass covered back yard, and access to the crystal clear babbling waters of the North Fork Shenandoah. This is a superb location to kick back and relax. We enjoyed kayaking down the river from the low water bridge and wading in the water while fishing. Our dog enjoyed hanging out in the back yard and taking nice walks by the river and down the quiet road. We had bonfires in the firepit most nights and marveled at the star filled skies. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed for prepping meals.The owners were very responsive to any questions. At one point I reached out to the owner because the split firewood was mostly gone. There were some whole logs but we could find and Axe/Maul to split it. The very next day not only was a maul delivered but a whole load of split firewood. Thank you!We have one family member that uses a power wheelchair. The accessibility is quite good with a ramp to the back entrance and ramps to both of the porches. The bathroom was however VERY tight trying to access with the power chair. I comment on this only so people are aware. It is accessible but not ADA compliant. The end of the ramp to the side door access has experienced a little washout from heavy rains but we had a short portable ramp with us to solve the transition. We figured it out but it’s just something to be aware of.Overall, a great stay, lovely area, beautiful grounds!

Nice older cabin on North Shenandoah River. Good response from host when we found a few issues. Fairly good fishing in one spot. Nice property. Recommended for folks with dogs. They have room to run and the river is mostly shallow for them to play in the water. Has everything you need to relax and enjoy being by the river.

We were delayed one day due to the river flooding the low water bridge into the neighborhood but the hosts were great about giving info and keeping us updated throughout. Once we were able to access the property the wait for well worth it, Wow, what a cool house right on the river! There were no amenities that weren’t at the house, the Shaffer’s are a great host and have a beautiful house in a picturesque location. We cannot thank you enough for a great stay, despite mother nature not playing along! Definitely recommend this house if you’re looking for great hosts and a great place to stay.

We loved the remote location. It was a few hours into DC but still doable for a day trip. The hosts were readily available when there was a flash flood in a neighboring town. Well stocked cabin with lots of river equipment.

Our family of 7 had a great 4 night stay here. The location is so nice with mountain views. The river was great, my husband caught his 1st fish fly-fishing. The house is set up nicely and comfortably. Plenty of beds & 3 bathrooms. Would definitely recommend.

This is a beautiful cabin. It is well stocked with everything you need to have a stress free stay. It is very clean. We loved our time. We took our fur babies, which is wonderful that this host allows. The back porch is opened, but is gated in at the bottom so our dogs could enjoy the outside and not have to be leashed. My husband enjoyed fishing, had to walk the river to find good fishing holes, and caught a nice one. I could go on and on, you just have try this cabin.

As promised it was barrier free and made the wheelchair bound guest relax and enjoy being on the river. You can book this property with complete peace-of-mind. Highest recommendation.

Rambling older cabin (in a good way!!) that was just so much fun. comfortable, homey, with absolutely everything we needed-seriously this home included more amenities than any other VRBO we’ve stayed in. Ample towels, ample toilet paper, ample detergent… tubes, inflator, blankets, firewood.. just wonderful. We put in a grocery order at the walmart in Woodstock and picked it up on our way in. We didn’t need to leave again.
The owner is very caring and easy to communicate with, the neighborhood is lovely, the river is AMAZING.
We travel with VRBO several times a year and this home is right at the top.

Had weekend getaway with group of friends & family. Has plenty of space and beds for everyone. Outside area was large and plenty of space to play outside.
Everything was fine, however we could not find towels until we looked around to the basement laundry room and it was in side the dryer. Fridge was filled with things from previous guests. Could not find trash bags.

Everything about this cabin and the property was perfect. I took a group of teachers on a well-deserved weekend getaway and training retreat, and they got the relaxation they needed. The cabin was exactly as promised and the property was even better than I had expected. I didn’t realize when I booked it that we were only steps away from the river’s edge and it made it all the more enjoyable. Sitting on the back porch, listening to the sound of the river flow by was just was we needed to set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional weekend. Thanks for this property. I hope we can stay here again sometime.

Charming river cabin with all amenities available made for no-stress packing and functionality during our stay. Would encourage bringing box fans for anyone in the upstairs rooms (which we brought) to help circulate the air from the A/C unit. Love that the cabin is pet friendly (with no ill effects/signs from being so) – our dogs had a blast. Enjoyed a great float on the house-provided tubes from the low water bridge to the cabin (2min car ride, 1.5hr float). Great space for all 5 of us plus 2 dogs snd 2 visitors for 2 nights. Our 3 teenagers claimed the basement beds and it was perfect! House Wi fi worked great. Cell service not so great, for some users, but others didn’t have issues. Wed come back. Had a great time!

This cabin was perfect for our family to escape the DC area for a weekend. All we had to bring was clothes and food – everything else was provided for. The house is huge and has so many things to do for kids including fooseball, airhocky, tubing, a huge yard leading down to the river, and beautiful fire pit. We had the best time and would definitely come back again. One tip – cell phone service is not very reliable, so be sure to screenshot the doorcode before getting there! The owner Julie is super responsive and accomodating – she even found us a babysitter in the area!!

Communication with owners was superior and they were extremely responsive to any concern that we had. House can accommodate a large group. Plentiful ways to enjoy the river and the outdoors are available, including views from the kitchen, two porches and two picnic tables. Fire pit with several Adirondack chairs is fun for s’mores and hanging out at night. The lawn is vast and great for catches and night-time stargazing. Several tubes are available for use and put-in location is a short drive or walk from the house. The other side of this coin is that it is a 15 minute (very scenic) drive to the main road and about an hour to Shenandoah National Park. Outdoor grilling is easy. More specific directions for how to use the television and other electrical things would have been helpful, as would a teapot and oven mitts. Air conditioning is a bit uneven. Oven and refrigerator could use a cleaning. We did not use the indoor fireplace, though this is likely very nice in winter. A beautiful part of the country; ice cream and strolling around Woodstock is a treat, as is exploring Strasburg and Front Royal.

Nice homey cabin with a/c and full kitchen. Hostess very accommodating and helpful. Quick to respond to all my questions. You will have neighbors on both sides and they were occupied while we were there. Cabins are spaced far enough apart that it wasn’t an issue.We had a great time!

Just returned from a long weekend at this Riverfront cabin.
Everything was just as advertised, and it made for a great few days with 6 adults and 4 young kids (5-8yr). The house was sized well enough for everyone.
Cabin was well kept and very comfortable, with plenty of seating inside and out, large back “yard” to run around on the way to the river, maybe 100-150 yards from the rear of the house. Not too far back out to Maurertown proper for supplies. Would recommend and stay in again.

The cabin was perfect for our family celebrating a 30th birthday. The river was a nice walk in the back of the property and it was great to be able to bring our dog. The drive back to the cabin makes you feel like you’re out in the wilderness but the bridge with no sides is pretty scary. I can only imagine how it is in the snow. The bunk beds are definitely for children because there are not many support bars under the thin mattresses so we were not able to use them with the exception of the larger bottom bunk of the one. The queen bed on the main level is very comfortable, that room was great. The room with the two full beds upstairs is comfortable as well. But the basement beds were a little disappointing, mostly the bunks and the queen in the basement dips in a lot in the middle so only one person was able to sleep in that bed. The two twins upstairs aren’t the most comfortable but got the job done. We weren’t able to sleep how we expected due to not being able to use the bunks but we made it work and had a good time. The cabin smelled a bit musty when we first arrived but we were able to air it out quickly with all the windows. The long dining room table was nice for our group to gather around. The fire pit was great as well with lots of very wood available. The extra chairs in the shed came in handy as well. There was a lot of food left by other people in the fridge and freezer. It took up a lot of space and was a little gross especially during a time like covid. The lock on the door was confusing to lock but after a quick YouTube video we figured it out. Might be helpful to add some directions on this. The WiFi was strong and the water was hot.

I didn't realize when I booked it that we were only steps away from the river's edge and it made it all the more enjoyable. Sitting on the back porch, listening to the sound of the river flow by was just was we needed to set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional weekend. Thanks for this property. I hope we can stay here again sometime.

The cabin was absolutely amazing. We had a great time with family and friends. Everything we needed was there. The first cabin we ever been to that even had extra toiletries. The rooms were all comfortable. We had an amazing time at the river and at the fire pit. Would love to come again.

Charming river cabin with all amenities available made for no-stress packing and functionality during our stay. Would encourage bringing box fans for anyone in the upstairs rooms (which we brought) to help circulate the air from the A/C unit. Love that the cabin is pet friendly (with no ill effects/signs from being so) - our dogs had a blast. Enjoyed a great float on the house-provided tubes from the low water bridge to the cabin (2min car ride, 1.5hr float). Great space for all 5 of us plus 2 dogs snd 2 visitors for 2 nights. Our 3 teenagers claimed the basement beds and it was perfect! House Wi fi worked great. Cell service not so great, for some users, but others didn’t have issues. Wed come back. Had a great time!

This cabin was perfect for our family to escape the DC area for a weekend. All we had to bring was clothes and food - everything else was provided for. The house is huge and has so many things to do for kids including fooseball, airhocky, tubing, a huge yard leading down to the river, and beautiful fire pit. We had the best time and would definitely come back again. One tip - cell phone service is not very reliable, so be sure to screenshot the doorcode before getting there! The owner Julie is super responsive and accomodating - she even found us a babysitter in the area!!

Communication with owners was superior and they were extremely responsive to any concern that we had. House can accommodate a large group. Plentiful ways to enjoy the river and the outdoors are available, including views from the kitchen, two porches and two picnic tables. Fire pit with several Adirondack chairs is fun for s'mores and hanging out at night. The lawn is vast and great for catches and night-time stargazing. Several tubes are available for use and put-in location is a short drive or walk from the house. The other side of this coin is that it is a 15 minute (very scenic) drive to the main road and about an hour to Shenandoah National Park. Outdoor grilling is easy. More specific directions for how to use the television and other electrical things would have been helpful, as would a teapot and oven mitts. Air conditioning is a bit uneven. Oven and refrigerator could use a cleaning. We did not use the indoor fireplace, though this is likely very nice in winter. A beautiful part of the country; ice cream and strolling around Woodstock is a treat, as is exploring Strasburg and Front Royal.

Nice homey cabin with a/c and full kitchen. Hostess very accommodating and helpful. Quick to respond to all my questions. You will have neighbors on both sides and they were occupied while we were there. Cabins are spaced far enough apart that it wasn’t an issue.We had a great time!

Just returned from a long weekend at this Riverfront cabin.
Everything was just as advertised, and it made for a great few days with 6 adults and 4 young kids (5-8yr). The house was sized well enough for everyone.
Cabin was well kept and very comfortable, with plenty of seating inside and out, large back "yard" to run around on the way to the river, maybe 100-150 yards from the rear of the house. Not too far back out to Maurertown proper for supplies. Would recommend and stay in again.

The cabin was perfect for our family celebrating a 30th birthday. The river was a nice walk in the back of the property and it was great to be able to bring our dog. The drive back to the cabin makes you feel like you’re out in the wilderness but the bridge with no sides is pretty scary. I can only imagine how it is in the snow. The bunk beds are definitely for children because there are not many support bars under the thin mattresses so we were not able to use them with the exception of the larger bottom bunk of the one. The queen bed on the main level is very comfortable, that room was great. The room with the two full beds upstairs is comfortable as well. But the basement beds were a little disappointing, mostly the bunks and the queen in the basement dips in a lot in the middle so only one person was able to sleep in that bed. The two twins upstairs aren’t the most comfortable but got the job done. We weren’t able to sleep how we expected due to not being able to use the bunks but we made it work and had a good time. The cabin smelled a bit musty when we first arrived but we were able to air it out quickly with all the windows. The long dining room table was nice for our group to gather around. The fire pit was great as well with lots of very wood available. The extra chairs in the shed came in handy as well. There was a lot of food left by other people in the fridge and freezer. It took up a lot of space and was a little gross especially during a time like covid. The lock on the door was confusing to lock but after a quick YouTube video we figured it out. Might be helpful to add some directions on this. The WiFi was strong and the water was hot.
