The Home
The setting
Tucked into the woods of Mathias, West Virginia, this chalet offers a private retreat with direct access to your own expansive stretch of land. Whether you’re wandering through the trees, spotting wildlife, or simply enjoying the stillness of the surroundings, the property provides space to slow down and reconnect with nature. Nearby, you’ll find hiking, fishing, and hunting opportunities, along with destinations like Lost River State Park and Trout Pond just a short drive away.

The home accommodates up to 8 guests across three bedrooms, all located on the main level.

Two full bathrooms and provided essentials support a comfortable stay for groups and families.

Kitchen and dining
The kitchen offers everything needed for preparing meals during your stay, with a dining table and bar seating for shared meals. Coffee is provided, making it easy to start your mornings before heading out to explore.
Outdoor living
The deck offers a place to take in the surroundings, while the BBQ grill makes it easy to cook outdoors. A private pavilion creates a sheltered space for gathering, complete with seating. The hot tub provides a place to unwind in the evening, and the open land invites everything from casual play to quiet reflection.
Children can enjoy the outdoor features including a swing, sandbox, trampoline, and slack line, all set within the natural surroundings.
Additional features
The home includes a private entrance and free parking on premises. Safety features such as a smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit are in place.
Pet Policy
We’re happy to welcome dogs to join you on your getaway! Please note that due to allergies, we’re unable to accommodate cats. A $29 pet fee applies per furry friend, per night to help cover additional cleaning and care. Thanks for understanding—we look forward to hosting you and your pup!
Longer Stays
For stays of 14 nights or longer, guests will be asked to e-sign a rental agreement prior to arrival. This agreement helps us comply with local requirements while protecting the property, and will be sent in advance for review.
Surrounded by forest, open sky, and a wide range of nearby outdoor destinations, the setting offers a balance of exploration and time spent simply being present in nature.
Please note: Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
