Such a charming cabin with a spectacular view. Prepare yourself to see some deer! The area is also perfectly quiet. Coming from the city, it was the perfect respite from the hustle and bustle. The house was also great for my sisters dog, she could let him out of the back deck and not worry about him running off.
There was plenty of seating for large groups. We had a group of 10 and we never felt on top of each other. The only note I would make is that the sleeping arrangement didn’t comfortably sleep 10. We ended up having three in the king bed to make things work.
Outside of the cabin itself, downtown Berkeley springs is absolutely adorable. Highly recommend, Cacapon Mountain Brewing for a good beer. The Roman bathhouse is also a must while you’re in town.
If I find myself hosting another group cabin trip, I’ll definitely be back.
Tony was a wonderful host and this cabin is everything I hoped it’d be! We stayed for a work week for a change of scenery and a tranquil relaxing atmosphere, and that is exactly what we got. We will definitely be back and look forward to booking our next stay!
amazing place, amazing host, amazing time!
It was a lovely long weekend at the cabin with the kids. Alpine Lake is a great easy-living retreat for anyone especially for families and this cabin is ideally located to take advantage of its amenities. The lot also provides seclusion and enough space for the kids to explore the surrounding forests with independence while safe.
calming
Positive:
great location. entire stay was very enjoyable and peaceful
Negative:
dog hair left from prior tenant, might have been under furniture and couch was slightly uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend for a family stay. PERFECT for romantic get away! VERY COZY SPOT!
Great place!
This cabin is in a great location next to Cacapon State Park and short drive to town. The layout of the cabin was perfect for a small family and grandparents with a primary bedroom on the main level and two bedrooms upstairs. The bathrooms are well-stocked with toiletries (soaps/shampoo) and all towels and linens are provided. They even had a pack n play and highchair that we could use for our infant. The kitchen is also well stocked. The deck is large and the firepit is nice, although on slanted ground, so watch to not tip over in your chair! The cabin is rustic, but clean and we only wished the fireplace had worked as it was mostly too cold and windy to have a fire outside.
This is our second time renting one of Tony's properties. The communication is always top-notch and check-in/check-out process seamless. I plan to look at Tony's other rentals for a future stay.
Great gateway cabin. The area is beautiful with access to a river and mountains. The house was equipped with everything needed and easily fit our group of 10. The area is very quiet so be mindful of the noise outside if you're a large group specially after quiet hours. Tony was great in communication and checked on us whenever needed. Would definitely come back here again!
The perfect getaway! It was a secluded place to get away from it all where we saw deer walking across the yard. The beds were comfortable with a fun game room downstairs. Tony was fantastic offering great suggestions to take in both the beauty of the area as well as the rich history of that region. We would love to stay there again. It was awesome!!!
Great location with a really great host. We were able to walk down to the lake and play at the playground, enjoy the trails around the lake, and head over to the dog park. We would love to head back when there is a bit of snow for sledding!
Tony, our stay was extraordinary. We can’t stop talking about the tremendous amount of relaxation and fun we had at your cabin. Thank you for hosting us. We hope to visit again soon. God bless you and your family.
Charming cabin in the woods close to the lake! We plan to stay again!
The Bear Den was a great place for our weekend friend get-together. There was plenty of space for our group of seven. The cabin was about a 10 minutes drive from Berkeley Springs. Our group had a great, relaxing time at the cabin and enjoyed an afternoon checking out the stores and restaurants downtown.
The cabin was great for a little getaway for myself, my teenage daughter and her friends for a little birthday getaway. We spent a few hours on Saturday in Martinsburg shopping, and it was an easy drive there and back.
The home was a wonderful getaway for us, and was very comfortable. We loved the deck, and appreciated the well stocked kitchen as well as the dual seating areas. The bedrooms were comfortable and. bathrooms and kitchen were very clean. Location is great, right near Cacapon State Park with great walking trails and a nice spa.
Excellent place to stay.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Little Fawn. This cabin was extremely cozy and felt very safe. Tony was awesome! Very attentive and easily available via text. We enjoyed exploring the town of Luray and eating delicious food. Shenandoah National park is a must see! Highly recommend Bearfence and Hawksbill trails. Will definitely be returning to Little Fawn in the warmer months to checkout Shenandoah River outfitters for some kayaking. Thanks for your hospitality and letting us borrow your beautiful cabin!
The Creekside Retreat was a cozy and pleasant place to stay. The beds were comfortable and there were extra blankets available, though I'd prefer to not have to make my own vacation bed upon arrival (even though it's "normal for the area"). The heat worked very well and the house seemed fairly insulated, considering it's age.
Wi-Fi / Internet was quick enough for most standard things like video streaming, and the Roku TV had all the apps we'd want for different streaming services, and there was even SlingTV for some limited broadcast TV viewing.
The yard was big and there was some outdoor furniture, though we didn't use it at all as it was chilly/windy outside this time of year, but the view of the yard and creek was nice nonetheless.
The location was very good, as we were less than 2 miles to downtown Main St and maybe about 2-3 miles from most of the businesses on Maddox Blvd. The drive to Assateague was less than 10 minutes by car. We can highly recommend spending some time there, it's a lovely park with some nice trails and wildlife (horses and lots of birds). Last time we were here we spotted a fox and we were told there are some Kingfishers in the area this time of year, though we didn't see any.
We can recommend Bill's Prime for some great dinner as well as the Chincoteague Diner and Restaurant for some very good breakfast. The Island Creamery for some homemade ice cream is a must.
Thanks Tony for a nice extended weekend at your place on the Eastern Shore.
Tony's cabin was honestly great- even for one night. Honestly the hot tub in the middle of November made it worth the trip. I'd love to go back sometime, given the chance
