I don’t normally leave negative reviews about places, but this one was a particularly negative experience for me and my partner. First, if your car is low to the ground or struggles with hills; DO NOT stay here. The gravel roads are over 3+ miles long and will scratch your car up. Second, it was nearly 80+ degrees when we got there. The cleaners left the heat on and we were sweating as soon as we came in. In regards to cleanliness, while the house was exceptionally clean everywhere else, there are cobwebs in tons of places, outside and inside. Every nook and cranny has dust or cobwebs. The bathroom also has weird yellow stains all inside the toilet and on the bathtub. This is probably because the water is yellow. Yes, yellow. the sulfur thing is no joke, bring bottled water, the water smells like crap and tastes even worse. Finally, there are bugs, many bugs. I had to kill 3 flying cockroaches and woke up to another random dead one on the floor. I won’t be staying here again.

The surroundings of this cabin are very remote and peaceful for a secluded getaway. A gravel road leads you to the cabin, we had no issues traveling this in a sedan. However, the cabin itself was a disappointment. The photos featured on Airbnb seem to be outdated as the cabin is in much disrepair with paint peeling and worn fixtures. The bathroom was unwelcoming as harsh, yellow stains from the minerals in the water coated the bathtub, toilet and shower curtain. We were concerned with the cleanliness of the cabin as there were many dead insects lying around and dust coated corners, making us question the thoroughness of the cleaning company. There was trash left in the bathroom can and a full canister of ash from the fireplace in the living room that should have been emptied before arriving. The hot tub was unusable as the water was extremely yellow, this was a disappointment as this was the deciding factor. The host, Tony, was receptive and responsive but we ended our stay early.

This place is absolutely disgusting and the owners should be ashamed of themselves. It’s crawling with cockroaches. There is spiderwebs and dust EVERYWHERE. Poop was smeared on the toilet seat when I got there nothing was clean. The hottub was so disgusting we didn’t even USE IT!! the shower curtain hasn’t been changed in forever, like yall make 300 a night on this place and can’t afford a new curtain for people? The tub/shower had hair all over it it was not even wiped down AT ALL!! This place should be called “trashy hill” they threw some new things in it awhile ago and basically just LEFT IT. The baseboard are black from dirt and not being clean. All along every wall is tons of dead bugs or spiders. The yard was not even cut or room for kids to play, the grass is up past our adult knees. We left early didn’t even want to stay. This Airbnb owner should be 100% ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES DISGUSTING DISGRACE would NEVER RENT FROM THEM

Beautiful, quiet location. The screened-in porch was a lovely place to sit with a nice, hot cup of coffee and a book, and the fire pit and hot tub were nice and relaxing in the evenings. The beds were cozy and the cabin was clean. It was a wonderful place to get away and decompress for a few days!

This cabin was a perfect, private getaway—quiet, relaxing, and just what I needed. I especially loved the screened-in porch, the cozy fireplace, and having a grill on hand. Just a heads-up: the water has a high sulfur content, so there’s a noticeable smell, but it wasn’t a big deal. The location is definitely remote, which I personally really appreciated. Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for a great stay!

The cabin is in a beautiful and peaceful location! It is rustic, as can be expected with a place in the mountains. But everything was very clean and comfortable! The screened in porch was one of our favorite parts, being able to sit outside without being bothered by any bugs or anything. The fenced yard for our dog was great also!!

We had a lovely weekend! The cabin was in a nice wooded area with plenty of trees and space between other properties. We really enjoyed sitting out on the screened in porch which offered plenty of seating. Overall, the cabin was nice for the weekend but did need some maintenance. The warnings of the hard water were appreciated so we knew exactly what to expect. However, the water pressure in the bathroom was very poor which wasn’t ideal following some long hikes. Additionally, the grill was broken and dirty so we opted to not use it. During our stay, strong winds/a storm did roll through the area which knocked the power out for a few hours. We text Tony + team to keep them in the loop and they were great to communicate with responded quickly. Thankfully, no assistance was required but we appreciated knowing they would get back to us quickly if help was needed.

Tony’s place was the perfect mountain getaway. The house was clean and stocked with everything necessary to stay (besides drinking water). It’s the perfect size for two couples, a small group of friends, or a small family. We had fun watching the stars in the hot tub every night and even used the firepit on two nights. The house has neighbors on both sides, but they are far enough away to have some privacy and quiet. We also enjoyed sitting on the screened-in porch to eat breakfast, but did not get a chance to check out the BBQ Grill. There is not much to do in the nearby town, Mt. Jackson (about 30 minutes), but there is a Food Lion that will have everything you need. A local suggested the Italian restaurant next to Food Lion, but we didn’t get to try it. This is a perfect spot if you mostly want to hang out at home and enjoy the Airbnb’s amenities, but also take some longer day trips to some of the Natural attractions like Shenandoah or Washington and Jefferson National Park

We had wonderful time and the rental was perfect. A large winter storm came through while we were there, we knew it was coming, and Tony reached out to us as well. This property is at the top of a mountain with very narrow roads in and out, just something to keep in mind when you book in the winter months. We unfortunately had to leave early because of another storm coming through, we would probably not have made it over the roads. Tony did warn us of all of this, which was greatly appreciated. Previous reviews stated to bring bottled water due to high iron in the well water (also mentioned in the listing), and we were very glad we did. A pleasant surprise: part of the yard is fenced, perfect for families and pets. All in all a great property, mother nature just had other plans for us.

Was a beautiful location. Had a cozy feeling to it very homey. I would suggest bringing water due to the water having a lot of iron it in. Toilet, sink and tub stain from iron concentration. The thing I was disappointed by the lack of help when snowed in. There was no shovel and we had to dig out our car with a neighbors shovel. When asking for help there was no type of help offered. In other places I had stayed there was instruction or a plan in case of emergencies. This area snows a lot so I feel types of stuff to help in that situation should have been applied. Also no service only Wi-Fi at the location.

Thanksgiving here at Tony’s cabin, it was a beautiful area we had a great time this is until we found Rat/mice droppings in ALL of the kitchen drawers. The description states the water may be a little cloudy but this had a terrible smell to it, the temp was low so we let the faucet drip & found the plates rust brown both were a huge concern for our health. We had requested an early check in maybe 1-2 hours nothing unreasonable, we drove 6hours to get there so it would have been nice to start dinner soon. Tony said that would be fine as long as the cleaners were done. Check out is at 10:00 check in at 4:00 We arrived at 2:00 noone was there so we figured they may be done. Reached out asking about the early check in he contacted the cleaners & after about an hour they showed up 3:00. They went in & done “Cleaning & Sanitizing” by 3:50PM. There is no wonder it was not clean. These places should not be portrayed as “ Thoroughly Cleaned & Sanitized” if they are cleaned in this short period

The place was wonderful, it was cold outside so having the fireplace was amazing. We sat in front of that the two nights we stayed! It was so quiet and for me coming from the city, it was amazing but also a bit scary lol I appreciated the care took in decorating and although there is a hot tub, I didn’t run so far from the hot tub to the front door, so we did not use it this time. The gravel road up here is a bit scary in a car, but we made it! There were almost no cars that drove by, so that was nice! Thank you Tony & we’ll be back!

Although warned about the well water and minerals in it, we were not prepared for discoloration of toilet and bathtub. The smell was overwhelming and the taste of the water was unpleasant. The internet was very slow and very difficult to use streaming services and our phones at the same time. I would really recommended the host get an hard water filter for the sinks and shower. Aside from this, we really enjoyed our stay. The host was responsive and friendly. Would recommend for a short getaway for couples who want to unplug and enjoy time alone together.

The cabin was not as described in the Airbnb description. The cabin we were originally supposed to get ended up being double booked so we had to reach out to the rental management group and they were able to get us another cabin for only half the amount of days we were supposed to stay. We decided to try that out as we had no other options and drove to the new cabin. Upon entering the new cabin, we immediately noticed a large stain on the couch and, numerous cigarette burns in the middle of the carpet. We went into the bedroom and noticed a cockroach on the closet door. We decided that we did not want to stay there bucause it was disgusting. The drive to get to the new cabin was also much more treacherous and barely passable. The blue maple management group was helpful in trying to accommodate us for the unfortunate situation.

First off Tony is a great host. He was very responsive and respectful in all our communication. He was very cooperative and gracious. The cabin however fell far short of our expectations. The fire alarms all lacked batteries or just were missing entirely. The shower curtain was bright yellow and clearly was not changed for a while. The toilet and hot tub were both full of grimy, yellow water with floaters on the top. Additionally the door entrance to the 1st bedroom was coated with dead gnats. We found them throughout the rest of the cabin. Lastly the towels were folded but upon closer inspection they smelled Ike body odor and had dirt stains on them. Upon checking out, when we took the trash out the trash bin was full almost to the point of overflow. This does not look good in light of other things found within the house which indicates further negligence on the cleaners end.

Hate to leave a bad review but a little care goes a long way and we received none. The cabin is in need of a lot of TLC- bathroom stain- torn screens on the porch which make it unusable from a screened in perspective, and no ACs in the bedrooms this part of the year made it pretty miserable. We wound up having to sleep on the fold out sofa and upon opening was very grody and disgusting not to mention torn and stained. There were supposed to be clean sheets in the dresser for the couch and there were not and the blankets on the bed literally had crust on them. We told Tony the next morning and there was no response- no offer to clean or bring sheets or another fan – there’s only one for the whole house – nothing. Only comm was an extra $80 if we needed to check out past 10 the last day which is earlier than most hotels. The hot tub was unusable. The WiFi that we relied on for work was very inconsistent. This was a very disappointing experience but a little help would have gone far.

Positive: The main living room and porch were great, and the hot tub was nice as well. Smart TV was useful and there was ample kitchen space and appliances. Negative: The fridge had a lot of water at the bottom upon checking in. Also, although it had seemed that it was filtered now, the water itself smelled and tasted like copper/metal to the point where we had to buy bottled water. Bathroom shower could have used some updates/further cleaning.

Tony was AMAZING. I was looking for a cabin in the middle of the woods with a screened in porch and hot tub. The beds were incredible soft, and the porch was perfect. The home wasn’t as clean as we hoped (sink was dirty) and Tony immediately took care of it. The water IS well water, so if you are not used to it, you might want to consider a gallon of filtered. We cooked with it just fine, but my friend wasn’t fond of the taste. The best part, hands down, was just how responsible and friendly Tony is! HIGHLY recommend!

Very cute and secluded place. It was nice for a weekend getaway. Tony is super responsive and friendly. He was great at checking in on my girlfriend and I to make sure we got there safe. The roads are super narrow so I recommend you arrive during the day. It was beautiful to be out in nature and away from the hustle and bustle. Great hiking trails are only 15 minutes away. There are cute breweries around the area. The water did smell of sulfur but it’s what you can expect in the middle of the woods. We had such a great time at Red Cedar Grove! It was exactly what we needed for our trip. We loved the wood burning fireplace as well as the screened in deck! The fenced in area was perfect for our pups too. While this is in no way a complaint, be aware that the water is well water. The smell can be a little off putting if you are not used to it. So be prepared for that! Also a piece of advice, grab firewood on your way in. There is a lot of cut wood on Tony’s propery, but it had rained so it was wet for our stay. All in all an amazing stay!

For starters, the pictures do not represent the condition/cleanliness of the home. When we arrived, door was open, dirty dishes in the cabinet, stove was a mess, dust and dirt throughout kitchen. The bathroom is brutal, the sulphur smell makes it nearly impossible to shower, the sink, toilet, and shower are covered in dark orange water stains. Trash was overflowing, so we had to worry about it being torn up by animals. The hot tub has temperature issues, we were unable to use it as it wasn’t heating to the temperature we selected, but it never got hotter than luke warm. Tony stated maintenance said it was checked a few days ago and all guest have different desired temperature, and that was his resolution so we couldn’t use it. Saving grace is the location, the beds are comfortable, linens clean, indoor fire place is wonderful, and the dog loved being in woods. Make sure to bring lots of wood and bottled water. Make a few adjustments and clean the place – it’d be a 5/5.

Lovely little cabin nestled in the woods! We enjoyed watching the sunrise from the hot tub in the backyard. The screened in porch was also very nice. I agree with other guest reviews and advise to bring your own water as the cabin water has some challenges such as color and odor. There is a filter attached to the kitchen faucet which helps some. Tony is very quick to respond and proactive with communication which is great. He offered a late checkout for a fee in advance of $39 (which I never have had to pay a late checkout fee before in any of my 30 other Airbnb stays; usually one hour is always accommodated at no charge.) When I requested a late checkout 24 hours before, despite the cabin not being rented that coming night, a late checkout now not offered. I understand last minute bookings can occur, but it was distasteful to me since one was offered for previously for $. Other positives — I love the style and decorations in the cabin. It’s very homey and cozy. I recommend!

Tony was an excellent host! He was super informative and to quick reply with detailed, helpful information. The cabin location is very much out in the middle of nowhere, which made for a fantastic, relaxing experience. Not too long of a drive to the Shenandoah National Park and surrounding locations. The hot tub also added to the experience. The inside decor makes you feel right at home, with comfy beds and pillows. Having a decent internet connection was nice as well since there’s literally no cellphone service on the mountain. This aided in the planning of which trails to hike, downloading offline maps, etc. The only “negative” for us was the well water. The odor was extremely strong, almost too strong at times. I’m not sure what can be done for this 🙁 All-in-all, a great experience!

This place is off the beaten trail but the listing should specify that the last nine miles or so are on unpaved roads. Nice and isolated but not out of sight of the next door neighbor. I doubt Tony has even seen the building. I texted to find out where the thermostat was for the main part of the house and Tony had to check with the cleaners to find out that it was actually in the locked closet where they keep cleaning supplies! He offered to have the cleaner come over to adjust it. I declined, it was already 8pm. The fenced backyard entrance isn’t attached to the house. We has dogs with us and had to leash them to get then to the fenced area. Certainly not convenient. Understocked kitchen. Potable water, according to Tony (and the listing) may be safe, but it smells like fish or worse! A water filter on the kitchen faucet didn’t remove the smell. The filter pitcher in the refrigerator did make it not smell. Overall, the house needs some TLC. It’s overpriced for the condition.

We loved our stay in the mountains! It is very “off the grid” but we loved the peaceful woods and the area was great. Not a far drive from Luray and we spend one of our days there. The screened in porch is the highlight and it’s very kid friendly.

Really lovely get away. Do be aware there are quite a few stink bugs, but that seems to be a norm for any place in the area. Bring bottled water as well, as there is a distinct scent to the water in the house. Absolutely beautiful and welcoming set up!

Had a relaxing stay at this cabin. Weather was beautiful and the cabin was cozy. Best part was the porch…a great place to sit & read & listen to nature. Very quiet & serene. Cabin was a good 20+ minutes via a gravel road… be mindful to pick up groceries as we did not feel comfortable driving it in the dark. Kitchen had everything one could need to cook & plenty of soap/paper/cleaning products. There was even coffee (thankfully as my fiancee brought coffee k cups– there is a regular coffee pot). My dogs also had an awesome time exploring the area. Tony was very communicative & friendly.

The cabin was a little further from the National park, but close to Bryce Mtn. It was clean and well maintained, we loved the enclosed porch and hot tub after a lot day of hiking!

What a lovely find! Perfect for a quiet getaway. Loved the screened in porch- perfect for breakfast and a late evening glass of wine. Hot tub was a treat, and we really enjoyed the serenity of being in the woods. Easy check in instructions and no issues at all during stay.

Had a nice one nights’ stay at Tony’s cabin. The area was beautiful and we loved the seclusion in the woods and the outdoor fire pit. Be sure to bring your own drinking water and plan ahead for food, as there’s not much around. We appreciated Tony’s frequent communication!

Lovely spot in the secluded woods, location couldn’t have been more perfect for a zen night away! The property was well decorated and looked like the pictures. We loved taking our dogs down to Lake Laura which is very close by. Everything you need is within a 10 minute drive, but equally easy to stay in and relax! As other reviews mentioned, the water has a strange iron taste to it which we found quite strange, so I would suggest to bring your own drinking water with you.

The check-in was listed as contactless but wasn’t and there was quite a delay being able to get inside. This may not be a common occurrence, but wasn’t an ideal way to start off. However, Tony was quick to act on resolving and was great at communicating. Once we were in and settled, we really enjoyed our stay! If you’re on the search for an Air BnB with a hot tub like we were, this one works very well and is practically brand-new with an easy to use cover (some can be cumbersome)! As for the location, it’s wooded and in the mountains. So if you can’t handle bugs, you probably won’t enjoy yourself. It’s Spring, and Tony explained this in the listing. The screened in deck was our favorite spot. In winter/snow, you would likely need AWD to access the property. All the bed linens/towels were clean. Certain things were clearly missed by their cleaners but nothing to avoid another stay. Tony seems like a responsible host and we would consider him in the future for our lodging needs!

Tony’s cabin was a great weekend escape from the city. Enjoy your morning coffee out on the enclosed deck, relax in the hot tub, or make s’mores in the outside firepit. The location is very peaceful! Two things I didn’t realize and wanted to note: It’s a 25 minute drive on gravel road to get to the house and all of the doors stick pretty badly (we had to throw our body weight into some of them to get them to open) so they wake up light sleepers every time you use a door. Outside of that it was a good stay!

Great father-son adventure for a military family on spring break from DC. We mountain biked the Orkney Trail and hiked Hazel Mountain Trail – my 12 year old loved both. The hot tub and fire pit were an added bonus. Definitely recommend.

Tony was a great host! Upon check-in Tony reached out to give detailed instructions. He also reached out during the stay to check on how things were going and if we needed anything. It felt good to know if we had an issues, we could communicate (which there were none). The place was exactly as described and we had a wonderful, relaxing time! We enjoyed knowing that the kitchen was fully stocked with kitchen equipment so we didn’t have to pack extra. The towels and bedsheets were also provided. The property manager/cleaning crew left us a welcome treat and nice card. We felt so welcomed! PS The hot tub was such a wonderful added bonus. You must use it! You won’t regret your stay!

What a beautiful AirBNB and over all experience. Mount Jackson itself is such a beautiful place to visit, there’s beautiful scenery everywhere. The cabin was perfect, we were greeted with a cozy space, a personable hand written card, and goodie bag. Tony is amazing— by far one of the best hosts I’ve ever had. He is attentive, patient, accommodating, and always responds in a timely manner. I asked for him to give the hot tub a little extra attention for cleanliness due to one of the guests having sensitive skin and he had no problem filling the hot tub with fresh water for us before our check in. He even let us check in early and gave me the option to check out early upon request! If you’re considering booking this space, do it!!

My husband and I had a great staycation at this cabin. The fireplace in the living room was so relaxing and the couch was especially comfortable for us to cuddle and watch tv. The screened in porch was also really pretty with the string lights. The bed was also surprisenly comfortable – we normally don’t like a firmer bed, but we slept great! Tony gave us a lot of great recommendations on things to do / places to eat!

My partner and I had a nice stay at this cabin for a long weekend. We made use of the hot tub and appreciated it’s convenient location near Bryce Resort, where we went skiing! Just know that the water in the house does come from their own well, so it has an iron-y scent. Other than that, Tony was a great host – very responsive to our questions and friendly!
