I stayed for two nights with my partner and two dogs in late June.
Pros: Dog friendly. The location is nice and private and check in was easy. The towels were clean and fluffy. The grill and hot tub worked well, even if they were a bit dirty. Dishwasher works well.
Cons: Overall, the cabin needs some TLC. I didn’t expect it to be modern and spotless, but I did expect better for the price we paid. The grout in the shower is cracked and stained. The windows haven’t been cleaned in at least six months. The sliding door handles are broken and the screens don’t fit properly to keep out bugs. The basement was unusable because it smelled so strongly of mildew. The kitchen cabinets were dirty inside.
If you are staying in summer, you will be hot. There are two small window units in the bedrooms which work okay to cool those rooms but don’t reach the main living level, kitchen, or bathroom. It must have been close to 90 degrees in those rooms the whole time.

Tony’s cabin was cozy. My family and I enjoyed our stay. The downstairs gave my teenager his own space which was great and my husband enjoyed the hot tub as well. If you plan on cooking your own meals on the stove, there aren’t many big pots to choose from so plan accordingly. The national park is a nice outing, as is the natural springs. Be sure to try the Pit Beef sandwiches and fries, they were great.

Overall great experience with Tony. First time booking a Airbnb and it went pretty smooth. Only problem was the previous Airbnb that we had booked with him was a problem, no water running, and no power. So he moved us to another Airbnb and it was much better and bigger. And we were all happy about it at the end.

The place was smaller than expected. The furniture wasn’t very comfortable and the lamps in the rooms were a little dusty. We got a good deal on the place but I wouldn’t book this one again.
There was a misunderstanding about an early check in and late checkout which was actually a paid upgrade.

Unfortunately our trip was cut short due to weather but we were happy with our stay. The space was roomy and clean, bed was comfortable, wi fi worked. Great communication and loved the manual that included directions on how to use hot tub and local recommendations. Our only disappointment is that we couldn’t stay longer.

We plan to use this location again, I think. Clean, REALLY hotel quality clean on the bedding and towels which I appreciated. I wouldn’t go here for more than a night or two though in the winter because it has baseboard heating and that is really drying and uncomfortable to sleep in. Also, because heat rises it was a little worrisome how hot it got up in the loft for our kids. Other than that it was a great place! I can tell they take care of it. I hope to see in the future if they do any updates to the place like replacing carpet or a new tub (felt a little unstable to step in). Oh! And there were minor things that really could happen anywhere but we couldn’t find the remote and the light in the living room wasn’t working. But, not worth taking a star away for that!

We had a fantastic stay at Tony’s place! The location was perfect, close to all the essentials and in a quiet, The property was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described in the listing. Tony was an outstanding host—responsive, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. From thoughtful touches like firewood, games, to helpful local recommendations, he truly made our stay enjoyable. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thanks, Tony, for a wonderful experience!

Tony was super responsive with any questions we had and was very accommodating to our requests. The beds were super comfy and we enjoyed using the hot tub. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

I’ll preface that the cabin itself was nice, although I did come out of the hot tub with itchy, rashy skin for the week following after using it.
My issue stems from the hosts utter negligence. It snowed the day after we arrived (common for West Virginia), and the following day I texted Tony that our car was stuck at the bottom of the long, rather steep, snowy driveway (we were not warned about this). He assured me he was in touch with his snow plow team but they couldn’t come that day. For the next THREE DAYS, I continued to text and ask if they were coming, telling Tony we were low on food, to which Tony would sometimes delay answering and then vaguely say again they couldn’t come yet. We were stuck for our entire honeymoon week, unable to ski, visit restaurants, or visit the state park. Finally, 6 hours past our checkout time and hungry, we ended up calling a tow truck. Tony refused to compensate us for the towing we had to do to literally leave his property and eat. I was shocked.

Great place to getaway and relax. I definitely enjoyed it only problem I had was I am 6 ft 5 and I hit my head a few times in the kitchen but other than that I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away and relax. I’ll definitely be renting with tony again

For our first time using Airbnb and doing a cabin trip it was a good first-time experience. We liked the surrounding area at the house, and it was quite peaceful. Having the hot tub there was a plus for us. Got to enjoy the cold while being very warm. The main room lights didn’t work so it was a bit of a bummer because we wanted to use the room more than the one downstairs. Not too many restaurants in the local area so any other places would be a 20-40min drive depending on what you wanted. Tony was very responsive and helpful throughout. The place being pet-friendly was such a PLUS! Brought my dog out there and she absolutely enjoyed the outdoors and was running around everywhere in the leaves. Wished we got to use the campfire but the tempt would be around 23-30 every night so it was expected especially this time of year. Would definitely come back at a different time to really see enjoy the outdoors more!

We had a lot of fun and really got to relax out there! Down the street of the house one of the neighbors has outdoor cats (& ofc there’s wildlife & you’re supposed to drive slow on the gravel roads) so be careful driving!! We were lucky enough for it to flurry & snow a little which was so beautiful with the fireplace & overall vibes of the cabin. We’d come back for sure! We also love the bath house in Berkeley Springs & the little shops around it.

We came here for our honeymoon. It was our second time staying in West Virginia, but this time we chose to be up in the mountains. The view from the cabin was amazing. We had a great time utilizing the hot tub and the outdoor space, and Tony was super open with communication and clear about everything from the start. An amazing stay!

Cabin was decent, little on the small side. Felt cramped except in the basement. The humming of the nearby power line does kind of kill the tranquility of the outdoors, if you’re seeking that sort of thing.

We had a very pleasant experience despite the rain. We rested a lot, the cabin was very clean and cozy, and the place was very quiet. We enjoyed the hot tub and the variety of games. We hope to return.

If want to unplug, this is the place. It is what is advertised. Pictures make it look brighter and newer it that didn’t matter. Great if you have kids because the basement is like its own little apartment. Not good for those with mobility issues due to the amount of stairs. I’d stay again.

We enjoy visiting Berkeley Springs every so often so staying at this cabin over the weekend was perfect. It’s very peaceful and rustic amongst a back drop of scenic forest and hills. The cabin itself was very comfortable and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck and fire pit area. I would highly recommend this experience to others!

The Black Bear Cabin was the perfect sanctuary in the woods we were looking for. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful forest surroundings and the plentiful amenities – fire pit, hot tub, and grill. Tony is a very proactive host, and reached out to see if we needed anything before and during our stay. We would highly recommend the cabin, or any other one of Tony’s properties, and would definitely stay at one of the properties again.

This house is absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. On top of that Tony (The host) is one of most responsive and helpful hosts i’ve had the pleasure of taking to while using Air BnB. Definitely recommend, worth every penny!

Home was clean, and provided toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, shampoo, dish and washer detergent and laundry supplies. Hot tub was relaxing, beautiful property and scenery. very quite off the beaten path. provided detailed information on what was around the area to do. Host was very easy to work with and contact.

The place was great. The basement room was a bit creepy. I wished the door and the window in the downstairs had covers on them. Overall was a nice place. With some minor renovations such as adding another AC or upgrading the TV this place can become excellent. I really enjoyed bbqing on the grill and the hot tub. I look for going back in the winter. Great place for people who have dogs.

My only concern in advance of arriving was asking how I’d make coffee and Tony left us fresh coffee in case we forgot. It was appreciated!
Thank you for such a picture perfect getaway! The hot tub was clean and inviting! Not an easy feat to pull off in the woods. The kids and adults all loved it. And we appreciated the wood left for a welcome fire at the great fire pit the night we arrived.

Was a lovely place for a long weekend getaway. Had such a nice time grilling, enjoying the hot tub, made s’mores at the fire pit and were minutes away from Cacapon Resort State Park, which was beautiful and fun to visit – with lots of trail options and a drive up vista view (4wd vehicle recommended).

Tony was very polite and accommodating. The views were incredible and the cabin ended up being very peaceful and relaxing. The space was open and bright and the host provided everything that we needed. The area felt safe and we enjoyed exploring downtown Berkeley Springs.

Perfect location between Berkeley Springs and Winchester. Very secluded and quiet. Needs some updates. Cleaning needs to be a little better. Other than some small attentions needed. This is a perfect place to just getaway and relax.

My wife, two daughters and myself enjoyed our quick weekend escape to the mountains. There were a few homes on the gravel road a few hundred feet away so not super remote but still very quiet and relaxing. Saw plenty of deer in the morning and even saw birds of prey hunting. The deck and the front windows are huge so we had a great view overlooking the wooded valley. We weren’t looking for a modern cabin, just something a old fashioned and cozy, and that’s exactly what this was. I am probably an exception at 6’5 250lbs so I really struggled with the tight stairwells but that’s expected from a small cabin. We would recommend.

This is a great little cabin (with a hot tub)! Our only complaint for our one night stay: the beds were all really firm and the couch was not comfy. Had everything else we needed!

the mountain view was amazing. I just wished I could have seen it from the second floor. The windows needed to be cleaned. It’s a bit outdated. But the whole reason we went was for the views. and the creek. but unfortunately, when we went, it was dried up. We didn’t build any fires, but you could if you wanted to. maybe next time we will go when it isn’t so cold. everything was amazing. The only problem I had was the dust and crumbs that seemed swept under the carpet. Tony, our host, was amazing!

Such a wonderful location and beautiful house! My family loved our stay and really loved that we could bring our dogs along! The rocking chairs on the balcony were amazing. Sipping coffee while watching the sun rise through the autumn leaves. Highly Recommend!!

we loved our time here! it was just the right size for our group of 6. The property is beautiful, especially in the fall, and in a quiet area. we especially enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. we found the price to be a good deal compared to other properties in the area. the cabin is a bit dated, but not in any way that detracted from our experience there. The host was proactive and extremely responsive if we had a question. The stairs to the loft and lower floor may be a bit steep for small children, but our 7 year old had no issues at all and loved sleeping in the loft. all amenities we could have wanted were there, from towels and linens to toiletries to cookware. Thanks for a great time, we look forward to another visit in the future!

Had a wonderful stay here with friends for my 40th birthday. Tony is a very responsive host and everything went exactly as expected. The house was comfortable and ideal for four professional women looking to have a chill vacation. We loved the location – it was easy to get to town for dinner and shopping, but the house is in a quiet neighborhood full of deer, crickets, and fireflies. Would absolutely stay here again.

Glamping-Fun stay! Tony was very responsive.This is definitely camping in the woods just in a wooden structure. Cabin is not equipped to be used in the SUMMER—VERY HOT and muggy inside. There is NO central A/C–just a window unit in the loft. It was very uncomfortable as there was one portable fan.If you bring your little ones just be aware that there is only one queen bed on the main floor with a large tub and shower (main bathroom). The loft has twin beds but STAIRS ARE STEEP.BASEMENT: was not usable for us as we had 3 small children and the stairs are extremely steep up and down. It does have a bedroom with queen bed and an extra bathroom.NOTE: the basement smells very musty and was uncomfortable to be in. This is where you will walk out to the hot tub-fantastic! STREAM/river: VERY FUN! May be 20 minute walk for adults but DO NOT WALK with your little ones–it is all up hill on the return back. Drive and park to walk through the woods.WIFI: not for WFH or video calls

location was great. we enjoyed staying in the cabin. it was calm and peaceful. We enjoyed the hot tub. A great edition for guests who want to relax and enjoy outdoor at the same time. i highly recommend this place.
Negative:
Master bedroom needs a portable AC instead of fan. the room gets hot real quick if kitchen being used for cooking.

Perfect little getaway. This cabin exactly what we were looking for! Cabin was exactly as described and clean. Tony was a fantastic host. Highly recommend to anyone considering booking.

If want to unplug, this is the place. It is what is advertised. Pictures make it look brighter and newer it that didn’t matter. Great if you have kids because the basement is like its own little apartment. Not good for those with mobility issues due to the amount of stairs. I’d stay again.

We enjoy visiting Berkeley Springs every so often so staying at this cabin over the weekend was perfect. It’s very peaceful and rustic amongst a back drop of scenic forest and hills. The cabin itself was very comfortable and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck and fire pit area. I would highly recommend this experience to others!

The Black Bear Cabin was the perfect sanctuary in the woods we were looking for. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful forest surroundings and the plentiful amenities - fire pit, hot tub, and grill. Tony is a very proactive host, and reached out to see if we needed anything before and during our stay. We would highly recommend the cabin, or any other one of Tony’s properties, and would definitely stay at one of the properties again.

This house is absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. On top of that Tony (The host) is one of most responsive and helpful hosts i’ve had the pleasure of taking to while using Air BnB. Definitely recommend, worth every penny!

Home was clean, and provided toilet paper, paper towels, soaps, shampoo, dish and washer detergent and laundry supplies. Hot tub was relaxing, beautiful property and scenery. very quite off the beaten path. provided detailed information on what was around the area to do. Host was very easy to work with and contact.

Tony was great, we knew everything we needed before we got there, we needed an AC the next day someone was there right away. Very nice home in a very quiet place. Perfect spot

The place was great. The basement room was a bit creepy. I wished the door and the window in the downstairs had covers on them. Overall was a nice place. With some minor renovations such as adding another AC or upgrading the TV this place can become excellent. I really enjoyed bbqing on the grill and the hot tub. I look for going back in the winter. Great place for people who have dogs.

What a pet-friendly private gem at the end of a road. Tony was so friendly and helpful!
My only concern in advance of arriving was asking how I’d make coffee and Tony left us fresh coffee in case we forgot. It was appreciated!
Thank you for such a picture perfect getaway! The hot tub was clean and inviting! Not an easy feat to pull off in the woods. The kids and adults all loved it. And we appreciated the wood left for a welcome fire at the great fire pit the night we arrived.

Was a lovely place for a long weekend getaway. Had such a nice time grilling, enjoying the hot tub, made s’mores at the fire pit and were minutes away from Cacapon Resort State Park, which was beautiful and fun to visit - with lots of trail options and a drive up vista view (4wd vehicle recommended).

Tony was very polite and accommodating. The views were incredible and the cabin ended up being very peaceful and relaxing. The space was open and bright and the host provided everything that we needed. The area felt safe and we enjoyed exploring downtown Berkeley Springs.

Perfect location between Berkeley Springs and Winchester. Very secluded and quiet. Needs some updates. Cleaning needs to be a little better. Other than some small attentions needed. This is a perfect place to just getaway and relax.

My wife, two daughters and myself enjoyed our quick weekend escape to the mountains. There were a few homes on the gravel road a few hundred feet away so not super remote but still very quiet and relaxing. Saw plenty of deer in the morning and even saw birds of prey hunting. The deck and the front windows are huge so we had a great view overlooking the wooded valley. We weren't looking for a modern cabin, just something a old fashioned and cozy, and that's exactly what this was. I am probably an exception at 6'5 250lbs so I really struggled with the tight stairwells but that's expected from a small cabin. We would recommend.

This is a great little cabin (with a hot tub)! Our only complaint for our one night stay: the beds were all really firm and the couch was not comfy. Had everything else we needed!

the mountain view was amazing. I just wished I could have seen it from the second floor. The windows needed to be cleaned. It's a bit outdated. But the whole reason we went was for the views. and the creek. but unfortunately, when we went, it was dried up. We didn't build any fires, but you could if you wanted to. maybe next time we will go when it isn't so cold. everything was amazing. The only problem I had was the dust and crumbs that seemed swept under the carpet. Tony, our host, was amazing!

Such a wonderful location and beautiful house! My family loved our stay and really loved that we could bring our dogs along! The rocking chairs on the balcony were amazing. Sipping coffee while watching the sun rise through the autumn leaves. Highly Recommend!!

we loved our time here! it was just the right size for our group of 6. The property is beautiful, especially in the fall, and in a quiet area. we especially enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. we found the price to be a good deal compared to other properties in the area. the cabin is a bit dated, but not in any way that detracted from our experience there. The host was proactive and extremely responsive if we had a question. The stairs to the loft and lower floor may be a bit steep for small children, but our 7 year old had no issues at all and loved sleeping in the loft. all amenities we could have wanted were there, from towels and linens to toiletries to cookware. Thanks for a great time, we look forward to another visit in the future!

Had a wonderful stay here with friends for my 40th birthday. Tony is a very responsive host and everything went exactly as expected. The house was comfortable and ideal for four professional women looking to have a chill vacation. We loved the location - it was easy to get to town for dinner and shopping, but the house is in a quiet neighborhood full of deer, crickets, and fireflies. Would absolutely stay here again.

Glamping-Fun stay! Tony was very responsive.This is definitely camping in the woods just in a wooden structure. Cabin is not equipped to be used in the SUMMER---VERY HOT and muggy inside. There is NO central A/C--just a window unit in the loft. It was very uncomfortable as there was one portable fan.If you bring your little ones just be aware that there is only one queen bed on the main floor with a large tub and shower (main bathroom). The loft has twin beds but STAIRS ARE STEEP.BASEMENT: was not usable for us as we had 3 small children and the stairs are extremely steep up and down. It does have a bedroom with queen bed and an extra bathroom.NOTE: the basement smells very musty and was uncomfortable to be in. This is where you will walk out to the hot tub-fantastic! STREAM/river: VERY FUN! May be 20 minute walk for adults but DO NOT WALK with your little ones--it is all up hill on the return back. Drive and park to walk through the woods.WIFI: not for WFH or video calls

location was great. we enjoyed staying in the cabin. it was calm and peaceful. We enjoyed the hot tub. A great edition for guests who want to relax and enjoy outdoor at the same time. i highly recommend this place.
Negative:
Master bedroom needs a portable AC instead of fan. the room gets hot real quick if kitchen being used for cooking.
