We enjoyed our stay and the cabin was great! The only issue I had was the fire pit area is on a pretty steep slope. The road to get to the cabin is also very steep but we were told this in advance before renting.

Oh they supply kayaks which is cool but if you don’t have a truck you aren getting to the water, just a heads up. Over all happy with it, just trying to be informative. Not rude. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway and had a relaxing stay overall. The hot tub was definitely the highlight, especially with the string lights creating such a cozy atmosphere in the evenings.
The kitchen had most of what we needed, though a baking sheet and colander would be helpful. Towels were plentiful and very clean, but the bunk beds did not have blankets. We were also confused by the river access, as the listing seemed to suggest private access. The nearby access appeared public, with signs prohibiting roadside parking, so we ended up driving about 30 minutes to the state park.
We hoped to use the provided kayaks, but one had a broken backrest, so we rented at the park instead. The firepit was nice, although being on a hill made seating a little uncomfortable. We also found food left from previous guests, including expired bread.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay! With a few updates and clearer river-access information, it could be an even better experience.

We had a great time at Tony’s place. It was as described, all amenities worked. The hot tub was awesome! The driveway/road to get up to the property is rough, but I’ve seen similar or worse here in PA as a delivery driver. Definitely can do it in a front wheel drive vehicle, BUT I agree with him no low cars or sports cars. I used a Chevy Impala without issue. It is a little more rustic than the pictures look, but definitely better than most cabins you’ll find. Just remember you’re at a cabin in the woods and you’ll be fine. Tony was a great host and very good at communicating. I didn’t feel we were caught off guard by anything. Definitely check out the mineral springs in town, bring empty gallons if you want to take some mineral water home with you they have a fill station. The Old Roman Bathhouse was very nice. The little shops in town were great! There’s a pretty large antique mall and an Apothecary/European Imports/Cafe that has something for everyone. Support the local guys!!

This Cabin was a really cute and nice getaway, lots of good hikes near by and felt private enough. Tony was super responsive with any issues we had/ questions. One ceiling fan / light in one of the bedrooms was dangling when we arrived for our one night stay, totally understandable that things happen sometimes and it could have just come loose between cleaners and when we arrived but we didn’t have an overhead light in that room and ya know it is what it is I wouldn’t expect someone to come out to fix it during a one night stay. Not really a knock on them just impacted our stay the slightest bit. All in all, a really good and cute spot

Great escape in and around Cacapon region in WV for a week of nature and relaxation. Nice open layout cabin with ample space and comfortable space to move around the common area. Two small bedrooms, queen bed and bunk beds but for sleeping is fine while we use the smaller room as our closet. Perfect for a couple to get away from it all even though it is a distance from Berkerly Springs. So if with the same vibe as us, definitely recommend it and will come again.Water spa, fire pit and grill all a plus and all worked well.

Beautiful, quiet cabin. If you’re looking for a nice relaxing getaway this is definitely the spot. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the location to the water. Online it shows as if the property is directly on the water and it is not. It states it’s a quick walk. But found it to be a rather long walk due to the hills, etc. Besides that everything was great!

We had an amazing stay at this cabin! We checked in, unloaded our things, made a quick run to the local grocery store, and then never left again until checkout. The fire pit, hot tub, and outdoor space made it the perfect getaway. We enjoyed every minute and would absolutely love to stay again.

Tony and crew were very responsive and quickly answered all questions we had. they provide a house manual that has a lot of questions pre-answered as well as recommendations for things to do & restaurants. It was a great place to disconnect and recharge. He isn’t kidding when he says the driveway is steep, but we had no problems navigating it with the Highlander.

We had such a wonderful time at the cabin. It was just what we were looking for! The road up the hill to the cabin is definitely very steep and I definitely do not recommend bringing any vehicle without 4wd. My little corolla back home definitely wouldn’t have been able to make it up but it’s manageable with a good car! We did come across quite a few bugs in the cabin but we love nature and it’s exactly what we were expecting renting a wooden cabin in the middle of the WV mountains. If you don’t like the occasional critter don’t stay at a place surrounded by critters! The woods are very peaceful and the cabin was clean and comfortable. I even forgot an item after my stay and had to double back to retrieve it past the check out time and the host was very accommodating and allowed me to return and retrieve it. The only qualm I have is the chairs outside are a little rickety and fold onto themselves if you don’t position them correctly but not a huge deal at all.

Clean and quiet cabin in the woods about 20 mins from Berkley Springs and 30 mins from Paw Paw. Hot tub was warm and worked well, great way to relax in the mornings or after hiking the Paw Paw tunnel trail or spending the day in Berkley Springs. Cabin is off the beaten path, so pack according for food and drink, but not secluded. You can see your neighbors and the gravel road runs by side of house where hot tub sits, though it is a road less traveled. You will need a vehicle that can haul kayaks to get to river. River is not by the cabin and river access for kayaks seemed to be even farther due to parking availability. The road to cabin is a steep uphill gravel road . Did it in an old 2000s sedan but was sketchy. Cabin is older so expect some imperfections and age related wear and tear but nicely furnished and decorated. Lots of stars at night and nice sun set view from deck. Gas grill is older and a bit rusty. We brought a cast iron griddle and used grill no issues. Owner very responsive and provided lots of information in advance.

We had a lovely little time at the cabin. From the windy mountain roads to the wood paneled interior, it was so charming. Especially enjoyed the hot tub and screened porch. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, but I’d suggest bringing your own pans if you plan to cook. I loved the electric wood stove—perfect for a cozy game/movie night. The open floodplain kitchen-dining-living room makes the home feel very welcoming. We loved it!

Would love to stay again sometime. I will say I stayed in March so even in the spring this dirt road to get there is very steep as mentioned. I dont have four-wheel drive so I went very slow and was fine but be mindful. Perfect getaway.

Matches description well, we enjoyed our stay. Contact I was given to text didn’t seem to know abt the property & had to contact the cleaners, property manager, or handyman before answering questions.
Weather was colder the night we arrived/our first full day (~ 30°F) & the heating system wasn’t heating the place entirely. It wasn’t too bad (~ 60° inside), but we weren’t sure if one baseboard heater was on b/c the dial was broken. When I texted about it, they first asked if we used the thermostat (there wasn’t one). I said we couldn’t find one, they asked if we checked the living room, I said yes, they said they would ask the cleaners & replied with a different answer after. Was resolved after a day of back & forth texting – handyman came on our second morning to fix dial & brought new heaters:) Bath towels also smelled like cigs.
Their team was kind & offered a lot of help, it was just frustrating that the main contact didn’t seem to know much. Otherwise a nice stay!

Overall, a great stay. Tony was very communicative, and the property was exactly as advertised. One thing to note is that the oven only worked on the broil setting, so keep that in mind if you plan to cook. The place could have been a bit cleaner – it seemed like it only had a quick sweep – but the hot tub and sheets were clean, which mattered most to me. One small suggestion would be to add a clothes drying rack for bathing suits. I would recommend this place and would stay again!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay! No complications, friendly host, easy instructions and beautiful area!! The only thing is make sure you’re an experienced driver as the road up to the cabin is quite steep and difficult to navigate. If you take it slow you should be fine!

The cabin was absolutely perfect! It was privately tucked away in the woods with such a beautiful view of the mountain. My husband and I were looking for a cozy place to have a getaway for our anniversary and it was exactly what we were looking for! With the fire pit, hot tub, kayaks, games, grill and other amenities that were provided, it made the stay at the cabin absolutely wonderful and enjoyable! If you wanted to have a day off the mountain, the cute town of Berkeley Springs was only a 20 min drive away. The stores and restaurants were so much fun to explore. Our host, Tony, was absolutely great to work with! He was very fast with communicating and made the stay at the cabin so flawless and easy. We will definitely be booking again in the future! The property was as described. I felt it was in a nice private area. House was clean except for a lot of cobwebs near the ceiling. Deck and enclosed porch were nice. Hot tub was awesome. Bed in master was comfortable. Having our pups with us is always a plus!
Negative:
Outside of property could use some TLC. I didn’t like that you had to walk to the other side of the house to enjoy the fire pit. It’s on a steep hill and very tricky to sit comfortably. Needs more cutlery and drinkware.

Spent a weekend and it was perfect! Private and cozy with a lot of outdoor things to do. Some insects but to be expected. Very clean and well kept. People in general were very nice in town. Very few things to eat so I would suggest bring stuff to cook since it has a full kitchen and all you need to cook.

What a lovely mountain spot to enjoy a few days. We were attracted to the cabin because of the kayaks and the access to the river. We were not disappointed. The boys had a blast in the great outdoors, and we enjoyed the tranquility of the mountain/woods setting. The hot tub was great; it was clean and ready to go. The beds were comfortable and sufficient. We loved the rougher, woodsy setting; the house had all the basics we needed. The host communicated well.
To future guest: I might suggest taking paper or non-breakable plates +cups if you wish to cook by the fire. The dishes in the cabin are china/glass – breakable and not the best match for campfires and kids. We managed not to break anything, but we were concerned. They do provide towels and bedding, but I would throw in a few extra bath and kitchen towels and a blanket or two. The cabin is more for outdoor and nature enjoyment. If you need a bug free zone, go to a resort that uses chemicals. A citronella candle is a good idea.

Need to hire a new cleaning person. Looked like someone just swept the dirt under the couch in living room, there was candy, leaves, fake fingernails swept under the couch. Found dirty socks beside the bed, didn’t provide enough toilet paper, porch and decks were a mess, and no broom to sweep up, and trash from previous peoples under the cabin, not placed in proper bins.

An absolute amazing stay if you want to get away and live simply for some time. The property was clean and the communication was wonderful! We did have cell service through the wifi which I didn’t expect and the wifi was actually really good, though we didn’t need it. The hot tub was amazing and the host even confirmed the handyman checked it before our arrival. Venturing out, there are so many cool places to visit. We stay for a simple (away from a city) side of things and this was definitely one of our top three places we have stayed. I’d highly recommend.

Tony’s cabin at Forest River was ideal for a low maintenance quiet getaway. The kitchen and living room was adequate for cooking and relaxing. The cabin was clean and had minor upgrades. Bring your swim gear, flip flops, and beach towels for the hot tub, it was relaxing. We suggest packing some layers of clothing to accommodate the brisk mountain weather and a pair of sturdy shoes. You will certainly get your heart rate up if you choose to hike to the top of the neighborhood. The propane heat was not working at the time of our stay, so we used the provided space heater which was helpful in the main room, but not worth the cost for the cabin as it was without heat. As mentioned by others, you should have an AWD vehicle to navigate the terrain. Overall, we were able to relax and spend some much needed time away from the hustle of life.

We had a great, relaxing weekend away! The hot tub under the stars was perfect! Bed was very comfy! I would recommend bringing your own pot & pan if you are planning cooking. There were plenty of dishes but the cooking pots and pans are very scratched Teflon. We made it work. Highly recommend staying if you’re looking for some R&R!

We were looking for an affordable, yet close to home cabin. It’s tucked away nicely but not too far from plenty to do. It has a nice deck and hot tub. It is quite a steep grade on the final stretch to the cabin, but I made it up fine in a low clearance car. The host was very clear about how the driveway was and how it’s not ideal in inclement weather. It was a great, quiet, affordable home away from home.

It is advisable to have a 4×4 to get to the house as the entrance terrain is very steep. The cabin is fantastic, literally in the middle of nature with a starry sky at night. If you want to light the bonfire, bring your own firewood as there is none available in the house. The jacuzzi is left on so you can use it at any time but the water was a bit dirty when we arrived. The cabin has many board games and a TV with movie services. If you go in winter, I again recommend having a powerful car as the terrain can be slippery if there is ice. Even though the heating was on, it was very cold in the house. Tony is a great host attentive and responding to messages as soon as possible even before booking or inquiring about other things he has, I recommend him.

The cabin was small but cute, I enjoyed the seclusion but will say, a 4wd vehicle is a need for this. The drive way was very steep and bumpy. The cabin was very clean and spacious for its size. The shower was a bit tricky to figure out but was very warm. The hot tub was a nice touch, but it wasn’t really filled so I didn’t use it in case it broke. All in all it’s a nice stay, the price was great for what it was. I recommend it for a couples getaway. We were able to complete two puzzles considering no WiFi and spotty service.

We had a wonderful, peaceful weekend at this cabin. It is really private, with tons of beautiful trees surrounding. Really nice for sitting in the hot tub, too–all you see is trees!
The cabin itself is pretty comfortable too. Plenty of seating in the living room, space to cook in the kitchen, and you can still hang out with everyone else in the common area. The beds were super comfy–we slept so well! The porch is a nice place to relax–we sat out and drank our coffee every morning.
That said, there were a few things we wished had been different. The fire pit is behind the cabin, and it was just hard enough to get to that we never ended up using it. The “wood stove” inside is gas, but there was no lighter to light the pilot, so we couldn’t use it. The kitchen didn’t have a big enough pot to make food for 5 people, so we had to buy one (they offered to reimburse, much appreciated). Some windows didn’t have screens, so we ended up with lots of fruit flies.
Overall a really lovely spot!

Trip and host were great! No complaints, and looking forward to staying again! 4wd is recommended for the last 1/4 mile because it is steep and unpaved with several large rocks to clear or watch for as of March ‘23. Seeing the sunrise from the hot tub while listening to the woods wake up should be on your list of things to do. Berkley Springs Brewery is a nice spot with good selection. The other cabins in the community are far enough apart to have a sense of privacy while remaining visible.

The property was just as advertised and in wonderful condition. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend – kitchen appliances and supplies, bathroom toiletries, and movies and games galore! Even though it was winter, we got outside and enjoyed the screened in porch, firepit, and hot tub! It was a beautiful, short drive to Berkeley Springs where we ate a dinner, shopped, and reserved time at the Berkeley Springs Roman Bath House for a hot spring soak. My husband, two young boys, and our dog had a great getaway weekend!

We loved our stay in this cabin tucked away in the West Virginia woods! Tony was very communicative and flexible. We loved sitar gazing in the hot tub at night, and the cozy living room was perfect for daily life. The fireplace was SO nice. We also loved getting away from the world – very limited cell service, no Wi-Fi. So be prepared to be present in the moment! There are other houses around, but the area is very quiet. Also a note, the landline doesn’t do long-distance calls which we weren’t expecting in order to check-in with people once we arrived. We watched movies on the DVD player (how retro) and it was perfect. We also went to Whitetail to ski on Saturday, about an hour away.
The only caveat to know is the driveway for the property – the half mile dirt/gravel road is very steep, and has a lot of potholes. We thought we’d be fine because there was no snow/ice, but our little Prius did struggle. It ended up being fine once we knew what we were dealing with, but it was a bit of a surprise. In the rain it also was not ideal. Our Prius did make it, but we’d recommend you taking a four-wheel vehicle or arriving in the daytime.

A small group of friends used this amazing space for our winter solstice get away. The cabin is indeed ‘off the grid’ meaning very little cell reception and no internet – which makes for a delightful retreat. We were able to enjoy the fire pit, gaze at the stars from the hot tub, and enjoy so much of the common space and kitchen. The space is very cozy and great for gatherings (too often livingrooms/common spaces feel like an afterthought in rentals). This was a really great space.

Everything was great, Tony stayed in touch but not too often. We had a situation at home where we needed to be able to be reached. Tony gave us the phone number of the landline to the house so we could be contacted( cell service is spotty at best). It was very nice of him to do that and the entire home was well outfitted and exactly as he described. We would stay again.

We stayed for a quick last minute getaway. Lots of value for the price. The house was well stocked with necesseties and mostly clean. It could use a more regular deep clean as the windwsills by the kids bed had old bugs, cobwebs on some decor and under the couch trundle bed was very dirty. There wasnt wifi and the number that was left for us couldnt be used on the house phone. None of this hindered our stay though. Hot tub was the reason we booked and very easy to use and enjoy. no neighbors on that side of the house. We had a fun time with all of the games movies and puzzles. Would definitely stay again!

Had a great visit to the cabin and Toni was a great host. I was seeking a secluded cabin with a clean hot tub/firepit and that’s what I found.
The host was great about expectations… you absolutely need a suv or Awd to maneuver the hill driveway in the winter but it’s so worth it. No wifi and no cell service, it was fantastic to disconnect. The advice to arrive with groceries and firewood was a must follow.
Comfortable bed. There is another cabin the property looks down on but that’s to be expected. Really only noticed them when they were loud or in their hot tub but overall the property was so silent!
If you’re seeking solitude, nature and stargazing… this is a great choice. Special note book a Roman bath in Berkeley Springs. Absolutely amazing.

The property was great and well stocked with everything you need. I did not have a problem finding spots in the house where I had cell service. Only advice would be to have a car that sits up a bit off the ground and 4WD for the gravel, uphill portion of the trip. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again.

Beautiful home, definitely the quiet get away we were going for. The hot tub was ready to go and nice for us. The town nearby had some places to see and some stores to walk through, a few restaurants as well. Our only complaint would be the lack of water pressure in the shower but besides that everything was good! The home was clean and it felt very welcoming. Would recommend for anyone looking!

Peaceful cabin getaway. Very cozy with comfy beds. Nice full size kitchen, but a bit sparse beyond plates and utensils. I’d bring your own pans, tools, and all the spices and oils (and wine glasses!) if you plan on doing much cooking. Hot tub was great, appreciated the twinkle lights. Recommend bringing a few dvd’s of your own for movie night. It is about a 20-25 min drive to public water and trails. Road is steep but I just gunned it in my Kia Soul and made it just fine. Tony was great to communicate with, I will definitely stay again.

our family had a great stay, we loved the cabin and it was very comfy plus the hottub was amazing!!! the only two things are that the hill to the cabin is VERY VERY STEEP! so be perpared with a good car that have 4 wheel drive, also there is public access, not private. when we got to the cabin they left a package saying that we were not allowed to have ATV, and we took ours to find out we could not even ride ir on the property, But… on a postive note the cabin was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! would stay again!!

Lovely stay “off the grid”. Hot tub is enjoyable. Definitely need at least small SUV or AWD vehicle to get up steep hills. Have to drive for water access, but it’s worth it! 25 minute drive into town, winding up and down a mountain. Peaceful. We had a good time!

The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We especially found the sheets and blankets to be really soft and comfortable. The only complaint was that the shower had very low pressure and was barely a trickle. However, it was not a big deal for a rustic weekend. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked well. Our twins had a great time and keep saying they want to go back to the “barn”… which I guess is toddler for “red house in the woods”!

Was a great time to get away and relax. Was hoping to see a bear, but no luck 😂. Definitely recommend a truck to get to the place and glad I took mine. Area was quiet and walking down the hill to the river/bridge was a nice little hike. Hoping to go back in the summer to do some fishing and kayaking. My partner and I had a lovely stay at this cabin. The view of the stars from the hot tub was breath taking! We had an electrical issue on our first night and Tony responded with help almost immediately despite it being almost midnight. He also made sure to reach out via text multiple times throughout the stay to make sure everything was going smoothly and that we had everything we needed! I would definitely recommend this place as well as any other cabin hosted by Tony!

Really appreciated the rate and modest cleaning fee, some places are pretty ridiculous but this was reasonable. Nice little place, sparse but plenty adequate, just what we were after. Enjoyed the gas fireplace, which did an admirable job keeping the single-digit temperatures at bay. Hot tub was great, though it takes a trip outside around half the perimeter to reach it, There’s really no other place for it to have been placed so no fault there, and it is pretty much the most secluded spot as well. The dirt road up from the river was no joke. pretty steep and a little rough. I really advise 4WD/AWD if the road were wet, but it was no problem in our FWD this time. Bed was comfy, furniture too. All the necessities were there, found ourselves wanting for nothing. If you have T-Mobile you’ll likely find some signal here, as the owner has an antenna and booster. We had zilch with AT&T as noted.

Great place to unplug and get away from the real world for a bit. Be aware there is zero cell service, no internet, tv ect. But the hot tub is great and they provide a ton of family games. We found creek access and the dogs were able to run in the creek. It was very relaxing and the hosts were super nice!

Beautiful secluded getaway! The house was cozy & well decorated, with all of our basic necessities provided. Bed comfort was a 10/10!
It was so peaceful to be able to completely disconnect and just enjoy the nature & our company. Be aware at the house there is VERY limited service, if you must… download movies/music before you hit the mountain.
About a 4 min drive down the hill is the Cacapon River, where we could walk across on large rocks and splash around with the dogs.
Another 20 mins down the mountain (which has TONS of beautiful views and lookouts along the whole way) is a small town that has great antique shops and a yummy coffee spot!
Tony the host was 100% on point with his communication and information. Our next trip to WV we will definitely be booking with him again!

Overall happy. The place is in the woods, you got kinda steep Stone Mountain road to property. No service but WiFi is good. They say there isn’t fire wood but I feel people leave wood behind so you might be good. It had a coffee pot and filters, no use of k cups. Couches very stained up. Smart tv and blue ray player. Good heating and cooling. There is soap and shampoos provided. White towels and sheets so you know they are good and clean. Hot tub is hot! Oh they supply kayaks which is cool but if you don’t have a truck you aren getting to the water, just a heads up. Over all happy with it, just trying to be informative. Not rude. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway and had a relaxing stay overall. The hot tub was definitely the highlight, especially with the string lights creating such a cozy atmosphere in the evenings.
The kitchen had most of what we needed, though a baking sheet and colander would be helpful. Towels were plentiful and very clean, but the bunk beds did not have blankets. We were also confused by the river access, as the listing seemed to suggest private access. The nearby access appeared public, with signs prohibiting roadside parking, so we ended up driving about 30 minutes to the state park.
We hoped to use the provided kayaks, but one had a broken backrest, so we rented at the park instead. The firepit was nice, although being on a hill made seating a little uncomfortable. We also found food left from previous guests, including expired bread.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay! With a few updates and clearer river-access information, it could be an even better experience.

We had a great time at Tony's place. It was as described, all amenities worked. The hot tub was awesome! The driveway/road to get up to the property is rough, but I've seen similar or worse here in PA as a delivery driver. Definitely can do it in a front wheel drive vehicle, BUT I agree with him no low cars or sports cars. I used a Chevy Impala without issue. It is a little more rustic than the pictures look, but definitely better than most cabins you'll find. Just remember you're at a cabin in the woods and you'll be fine. Tony was a great host and very good at communicating. I didn't feel we were caught off guard by anything. Definitely check out the mineral springs in town, bring empty gallons if you want to take some mineral water home with you they have a fill station. The Old Roman Bathhouse was very nice. The little shops in town were great! There's a pretty large antique mall and an Apothecary/European Imports/Cafe that has something for everyone. Support the local guys!!

This Cabin was a really cute and nice getaway, lots of good hikes near by and felt private enough. Tony was super responsive with any issues we had/ questions. One ceiling fan / light in one of the bedrooms was dangling when we arrived for our one night stay, totally understandable that things happen sometimes and it could have just come loose between cleaners and when we arrived but we didn’t have an overhead light in that room and ya know it is what it is I wouldn’t expect someone to come out to fix it during a one night stay. Not really a knock on them just impacted our stay the slightest bit. All in all, a really good and cute spot

Great escape in and around Cacapon region in WV for a week of nature and relaxation. Nice open layout cabin with ample space and comfortable space to move around the common area. Two small bedrooms, queen bed and bunk beds but for sleeping is fine while we use the smaller room as our closet. Perfect for a couple to get away from it all even though it is a distance from Berkerly Springs. So if with the same vibe as us, definitely recommend it and will come again.Water spa, fire pit and grill all a plus and all worked well.

Beautiful, quiet cabin. If you’re looking for a nice relaxing getaway this is definitely the spot. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the location to the water. Online it shows as if the property is directly on the water and it is not. It states it’s a quick walk. But found it to be a rather long walk due to the hills, etc. Besides that everything was great!

Tony and crew were very responsive and quickly answered all questions we had. they provide a house manual that has a lot of questions pre-answered as well as recommendations for things to do & restaurants. It was a great place to disconnect and recharge. He isn't kidding when he says the driveway is steep, but we had no problems navigating it with the Highlander.

We had such a wonderful time at the cabin. It was just what we were looking for! The road up the hill to the cabin is definitely very steep and I definitely do not recommend bringing any vehicle without 4wd. My little corolla back home definitely wouldn’t have been able to make it up but it’s manageable with a good car! We did come across quite a few bugs in the cabin but we love nature and it’s exactly what we were expecting renting a wooden cabin in the middle of the WV mountains. If you don’t like the occasional critter don’t stay at a place surrounded by critters! The woods are very peaceful and the cabin was clean and comfortable. I even forgot an item after my stay and had to double back to retrieve it past the check out time and the host was very accommodating and allowed me to return and retrieve it. The only qualm I have is the chairs outside are a little rickety and fold onto themselves if you don’t position them correctly but not a huge deal at all.

Clean and quiet cabin in the woods about 20 mins from Berkley Springs and 30 mins from Paw Paw. Hot tub was warm and worked well, great way to relax in the mornings or after hiking the Paw Paw tunnel trail or spending the day in Berkley Springs. Cabin is off the beaten path, so pack according for food and drink, but not secluded. You can see your neighbors and the gravel road runs by side of house where hot tub sits, though it is a road less traveled. You will need a vehicle that can haul kayaks to get to river. River is not by the cabin and river access for kayaks seemed to be even farther due to parking availability. The road to cabin is a steep uphill gravel road . Did it in an old 2000s sedan but was sketchy. Cabin is older so expect some imperfections and age related wear and tear but nicely furnished and decorated. Lots of stars at night and nice sun set view from deck. Gas grill is older and a bit rusty. We brought a cast iron griddle and used grill no issues. Owner very responsive and provided lots of information in advance.

We had a lovely little time at the cabin. From the windy mountain roads to the wood paneled interior, it was so charming. Especially enjoyed the hot tub and screened porch. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, but I’d suggest bringing your own pans if you plan to cook. I loved the electric wood stove—perfect for a cozy game/movie night. The open floodplain kitchen-dining-living room makes the home feel very welcoming. We loved it!

Would love to stay again sometime. I will say I stayed in March so even in the spring this dirt road to get there is very steep as mentioned. Matches description well, we enjoyed our stay. Contact I was given to text didn’t seem to know abt the property & had to contact the cleaners, property manager, or handyman before answering questions.
Weather was colder the night we arrived/our first full day (~ 30°F) & the heating system wasn’t heating the place entirely. It wasn’t too bad (~ 60° inside), but we weren’t sure if one baseboard heater was on b/c the dial was broken. When I texted about it, they first asked if we used the thermostat (there wasn’t one). I said we couldn’t find one, they asked if we checked the living room, I said yes, they said they would ask the cleaners & replied with a different answer after. Was resolved after a day of back & forth texting - handyman came on our second morning to fix dial & brought new heaters:) Bath towels also smelled like cigs.
Their team was kind & offered a lot of help, it was just frustrating that the main contact didn’t seem to know much. Otherwise a nice stay!

Overall, a great stay. Tony was very communicative, and the property was exactly as advertised. One thing to note is that the oven only worked on the broil setting, so keep that in mind if you plan to cook. The place could have been a bit cleaner - it seemed like it only had a quick sweep - but the hot tub and sheets were clean, which mattered most to me. One small suggestion would be to add a clothes drying rack for bathing suits. I would recommend this place and would stay again!

The cabin was absolutely perfect! It was privately tucked away in the woods with such a beautiful view of the mountain. My husband and I were looking for a cozy place to have a getaway for our anniversary and it was exactly what we were looking for! With the fire pit, hot tub, kayaks, games, grill and other amenities that were provided, it made the stay at the cabin absolutely wonderful and enjoyable! If you wanted to have a day off the mountain, the cute town of Berkeley Springs was only a 20 min drive away. The stores and restaurants were so much fun to explore. Our host, Tony, was absolutely great to work with! He was very fast with communicating and made the stay at the cabin so flawless and easy. We will definitely be booking again in the future! The property was as described. I felt it was in a nice private area. House was clean except for a lot of cobwebs near the ceiling. Deck and enclosed porch were nice. Hot tub was awesome. Bed in master was comfortable. Having our pups with us is always a plus!

Outside of property could use some TLC. I didn’t like that you had to walk to the other side of the house to enjoy the fire pit. It’s on a steep hill and very tricky to sit comfortably. Needs more cutlery and drinkware.

Spent a weekend and it was perfect! Private and cozy with a lot of outdoor things to do. Some insects but to be expected. Very clean and well kept. People in general were very nice in town. Very few things to eat so I would suggest bring stuff to cook since it has a full kitchen and all you need to cook.

What a lovely mountain spot to enjoy a few days. We were attracted to the cabin because of the kayaks and the access to the river. We were not disappointed. The boys had a blast in the great outdoors, and we enjoyed the tranquility of the mountain/woods setting. The hot tub was great; it was clean and ready to go. The beds were comfortable and sufficient. We loved the rougher, woodsy setting; the house had all the basics we needed. The host communicated well.
To future guest: I might suggest taking paper or non-breakable plates +cups if you wish to cook by the fire. The dishes in the cabin are china/glass - breakable and not the best match for campfires and kids. We managed not to break anything, but we were concerned. They do provide towels and bedding, but I would throw in a few extra bath and kitchen towels and a blanket or two. The cabin is more for outdoor and nature enjoyment. If you need a bug free zone, go to a resort that uses chemicals. A citronella candle is a good idea.

Need to hire a new cleaning person. Looked like someone just swept the dirt under the couch in living room, there was candy, leaves, fake fingernails swept under the couch. Found dirty socks beside the bed, didn't provide enough toilet paper, porch and decks were a mess, and no broom to sweep up, and trash from previous peoples under the cabin, not placed in proper bins.

An absolute amazing stay if you want to get away and live simply for some time. The property was clean and the communication was wonderful! We did have cell service through the wifi which I didn't expect and the wifi was actually really good, though we didn't need it. The hot tub was amazing and the host even confirmed the handyman checked it before our arrival. Venturing out, there are so many cool places to visit. We stay for a simple (away from a city) side of things and this was definitely one of our top three places we have stayed. I'd highly recommend.

Tony’s cabin at Forest River was ideal for a low maintenance quiet getaway. The kitchen and living room was adequate for cooking and relaxing. The cabin was clean and had minor upgrades. Bring your swim gear, flip flops, and beach towels for the hot tub, it was relaxing. We suggest packing some layers of clothing to accommodate the brisk mountain weather and a pair of sturdy shoes. You will certainly get your heart rate up if you choose to hike to the top of the neighborhood. The propane heat was not working at the time of our stay, so we used the provided space heater which was helpful in the main room, but not worth the cost for the cabin as it was without heat. As mentioned by others, you should have an AWD vehicle to navigate the terrain. Overall, we were able to relax and spend some much needed time away from the hustle of life.

We had a great, relaxing weekend away! The hot tub under the stars was perfect! Bed was very comfy! I would recommend bringing your own pot & pan if you are planning cooking. There were plenty of dishes but the cooking pots and pans are very scratched Teflon. We made it work. Highly recommend staying if you're looking for some R&R!

We were looking for an affordable, yet close to home cabin. It’s tucked away nicely but not too far from plenty to do. It has a nice deck and hot tub. It is quite a steep grade on the final stretch to the cabin, but I made it up fine in a low clearance car. The host was very clear about how the driveway was and how it’s not ideal in inclement weather. It was a great, quiet, affordable home away from home.

It is advisable to have a 4x4 to get to the house as the entrance terrain is very steep. The cabin is fantastic, literally in the middle of nature with a starry sky at night. If you want to light the bonfire, bring your own firewood as there is none available in the house. The jacuzzi is left on so you can use it at any time but the water was a bit dirty when we arrived. The cabin has many board games and a TV with movie services. If you go in winter, I again recommend having a powerful car as the terrain can be slippery if there is ice. Even though the heating was on, it was very cold in the house. Tony is a great host attentive and responding to messages as soon as possible even before booking or inquiring about other things he has, I recommend him.

The cabin was small but cute, I enjoyed the seclusion but will say, a 4wd vehicle is a need for this. The drive way was very steep and bumpy. The cabin was very clean and spacious for its size. The shower was a bit tricky to figure out but was very warm. The hot tub was a nice touch, but it wasn’t really filled so I didn’t use it in case it broke. All in all it’s a nice stay, the price was great for what it was. I recommend it for a couples getaway. We were able to complete two puzzles considering no WiFi and spotty service.

We had a wonderful, peaceful weekend at this cabin. It is really private, with tons of beautiful trees surrounding. Really nice for sitting in the hot tub, too--all you see is trees!
The cabin itself is pretty comfortable too. Plenty of seating in the living room, space to cook in the kitchen, and you can still hang out with everyone else in the common area. The beds were super comfy--we slept so well! The porch is a nice place to relax--we sat out and drank our coffee every morning.
That said, there were a few things we wished had been different. The fire pit is behind the cabin, and it was just hard enough to get to that we never ended up using it. The "wood stove" inside is gas, but there was no lighter to light the pilot, so we couldn't use it. The kitchen didn't have a big enough pot to make food for 5 people, so we had to buy one (they offered to reimburse, much appreciated). Some windows didn't have screens, so we ended up with lots of fruit flies.
Overall a really lovely spot!

Trip and host were great! No complaints, and looking forward to staying again! 4wd is recommended for the last 1/4 mile because it is steep and unpaved with several large rocks to clear or watch for as of March ‘23. Seeing the sunrise from the hot tub while listening to the woods wake up should be on your list of things to do. Berkley Springs Brewery is a nice spot with good selection. The other cabins in the community are far enough apart to have a sense of privacy while remaining visible.

The property was just as advertised and in wonderful condition. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend - kitchen appliances and supplies, bathroom toiletries, and movies and games galore! Even though it was winter, we got outside and enjoyed the screened in porch, firepit, and hot tub! It was a beautiful, short drive to Berkeley Springs where we ate a dinner, shopped, and reserved time at the Berkeley Springs Roman Bath House for a hot spring soak. My husband, two young boys, and our dog had a great getaway weekend!

We loved our stay in this cabin tucked away in the West Virginia woods! Tony was very communicative and flexible. We loved sitar gazing in the hot tub at night, and the cozy living room was perfect for daily life. The fireplace was SO nice. We also loved getting away from the world - very limited cell service, no Wi-Fi. So be prepared to be present in the moment! There are other houses around, but the area is very quiet. Also a note, the landline doesn’t do long-distance calls which we weren’t expecting in order to check-in with people once we arrived. We watched movies on the DVD player (how retro) and it was perfect. We also went to Whitetail to ski on Saturday, about an hour away.
The only caveat to know is the driveway for the property - the half mile dirt/gravel road is very steep, and has a lot of potholes. We thought we’d be fine because there was no snow/ice, but our little Prius did struggle. It ended up being fine once we knew what we were dealing with, but it was a bit of a surprise. In the rain it also was not ideal. Our Prius did make it, but we’d recommend you taking a four-wheel vehicle or arriving in the daytime.

A small group of friends used this amazing space for our winter solstice get away. The cabin is indeed 'off the grid' meaning very little cell reception and no internet - which makes for a delightful retreat. We were able to enjoy the fire pit, gaze at the stars from the hot tub, and enjoy so much of the common space and kitchen. The space is very cozy and great for gatherings (too often livingrooms/common spaces feel like an afterthought in rentals). This was a really great space.

We stayed for a quick last minute getaway. Lots of value for the price. The house was well stocked with necesseties and mostly clean. It could use a more regular deep clean as the windwsills by the kids bed had old bugs, cobwebs on some decor and under the couch trundle bed was very dirty. There wasnt wifi and the number that was left for us couldnt be used on the house phone. None of this hindered our stay though. Hot tub was the reason we booked and very easy to use and enjoy. no neighbors on that side of the house. We had a fun time with all of the games movies and puzzles. Would definitely stay again!

Had a great visit to the cabin and Toni was a great host. I was seeking a secluded cabin with a clean hot tub/firepit and that’s what I found.
The host was great about expectations… you absolutely need a suv or Awd to maneuver the hill driveway in the winter but it’s so worth it. No wifi and no cell service, it was fantastic to disconnect. The advice to arrive with groceries and firewood was a must follow.
Comfortable bed. There is another cabin the property looks down on but that’s to be expected. Really only noticed them when they were loud or in their hot tub but overall the property was so silent!
If you’re seeking solitude, nature and stargazing… this is a great choice. Special note book a Roman bath in Berkeley Springs. Absolutely amazing.

My husband and ai were soo excited to come to the cabin since this would’ve been our first getaway away from our phones and the pictures looked soo beautiful. However, when we got there, we were super disappointed. The place was very dirty and dusty. We didn’t get to enjoy the deck or the sunroom area nor the hot tub. There was dust under the bed and by the night stand and someone’s water bottle under the bed. The place smelled like wet dog/urine. There was stains on the couch. I was very disappointed since I spend a lot of money and paid a cleaning fee. We read the book of reviews from previous guest who have mentioned the same thing. The landline didn’t even work when we needed to make a call which was terrible since we had no service. Etc.
On the plus side, the movie collection was the best part.

Was not worth the money. A very tiny cabin, that needs a good deep clean. Went to use what little dishes the kitchen had and they had been put back dirty. Couldn’t get in the hot tub because there were so many chemicals that there was about 3 foot of suds once turned on. The outside was cluttered and all of the games were outside of the boxes and scattered through the whole porch. Locks were broken on the door, the umbrella outside was broken and the grill was so disgusting I would never dream of cooking on it. And the dreadful fan and clock on the wall made so much noise it was hard to enjoy the peace and quiet. Was 100% not worth the money. The pictures give an inaccurate impression of this property. I reached out to the home owner because we did not have a tv remote to watch movies and he told me he would find out and never reached back out. A total disappointment

Pros: cute, cozy and comfy! We loved the hot tub and being able to disconnect from the outside world. Tony had the place stocked with lots of games. Tony was also very proactive about giving a heads up about check in and checkout procedures.
Con: the only problem we had is that it’s not as close to the river as we expected it to be per the listing and it did not have private access. Be prepared to drive to public access (about 10 minutes) and that was closed down due to the time of year. We did not know that before hand.
Overall we did really enjoy our stay and was worth the price.

Peaceful cabin getaway. Very cozy with comfy beds. Nice full size kitchen, but a bit sparse beyond plates and utensils. I’d bring your own pans, tools, and all the spices and oils (and wine glasses!) if you plan on doing much cooking. Hot tub was great, appreciated the twinkle lights. Recommend bringing a few dvd’s of your own for movie night. It is about a 20-25 min drive to public water and trails. Road is steep but I just gunned it in my Kia Soul and made it just fine. Tony was great to communicate with, I will definitely stay again.

Very remote, the road up would be treacherous in bad weather. The cabin surroundings were beautiful and the hot tub was great. However, the cabins bathroom did smell a little like sewage and we couldn’t figure out how to get the fireplace going. There is no service or WiFi, to get service it’s a 20 min drive down the mountain. The cabin also lost power our second night and we had to go home. Luckily AirBNB gave us a refund.

There was nothing pleasant about the cabin. Trying to get in with no outside light was fun. #NOT!
Everything was dingy, broken, lights burned out, stinky. The main heater/gas burner in the living room didn't work. There was a sign on the wall to use the thermostat to manage temperature but that was broken. Didn't find the electric baseboard heater behind the bed under the curtain until next morning. Fire hazard?? So we layered clothes and blankets to sleep.
There is no cell or internet service so the TV was useless. The hot tub was cold. There was an empty air freshener plugged in probably to help with the musty, moldy smell. They left us 2 thin, small, white towels for the WEEKEND! The coffee was dated to expire a few days after we left. Furnishing were dingy, old, and uncomfortable. Dishes were dirty - well dusty. Prior to coming we asked Tony for something, said he'd get back to us but didn't. Your money would get you something nicer elsewhere

our family had a great stay, we loved the cabin and it was very comfy plus the hottub was amazing!!! the only two things are that the hill to the cabin is VERY VERY STEEP! so be perpared with a good car that have 4 wheel drive, also there is public access, not private. when we got to the cabin they left a package saying that we were not allowed to have ATV, and we took ours to find out we could not even ride ir on the property, But... on a postive note the cabin was clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! would stay again!!

The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We especially found the sheets and blankets to be really soft and comfortable. The only complaint was that the shower had very low pressure and was barely a trickle. However, it was not a big deal for a rustic weekend. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked well. Our twins had a great time and keep saying they want to go back to the "barn"... which I guess is toddler for "red house in the woods"!

Tony was quick to respond to any questions I had during my stay! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed; towels, dvds, and firewood! Would definitely stay at this cabin again for a quick weekend getaway!

Tony was incredibly friendly and helpful! The cabin was beautiful and a perfect spot for a weekend getaway. It was clean, cozy, and in a private location. The hot tub was a HUGE plus! Would definitely recommend staying at this property!

We had a great stay! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The fireplace was cozy and of course the hot tub was perfect. The location is great. We enjoyed being close to Berkeley Springs and also to remote hiking options. Tony was very communication and we had no issues. Thanks Tony!

Amazing location for a secluded getaway with a cute small town not too far away. Hot tub and scenery were both incredible! More than enjoyed our time away from the grind. Wonderful host who was responsive, and everything on the listing was accurate. Would definitely recommend, can’t wait to come back!

My partner and I had a lovely stay at this cabin. The view of the stars from the hot tub was breath taking! We had an electrical issue on our first night and Tony responded with help almost immediately despite it being almost midnight. He also made sure to reach out via text multiple times throughout the stay to make sure everything was going smoothly and that we had everything we needed! I would definitely recommend this place as well as any other cabin hosted by Tony!

Really appreciated the rate and modest cleaning fee, some places are pretty ridiculous but this was reasonable. Nice little place, sparse but plenty adequate, just what we were after. Enjoyed the gas fireplace, which did an admirable job keeping the single-digit temperatures at bay. Hot tub was great, though it takes a trip outside around half the perimeter to reach it, There's really no other place for it to have been placed so no fault there, and it is pretty much the most secluded spot as well. The dirt road up from the river was no joke. pretty steep and a little rough. I really advise 4WD/AWD if the road were wet, but it was no problem in our FWD this time. Bed was comfy, furniture too. All the necessities were there, found ourselves wanting for nothing. If you have T-Mobile you'll likely find some signal here, as the owner has an antenna and booster. We had zilch with AT&T as noted.

We had an incredible stay. Very relaxing & away from everything. Preferred that there was no wifi because it made the stay even better. Great movie selection and the hot tub was very clean and had a great view of the forest. Posted some photos & had a lot of inquiries about this place - 10/10 would recommend!

This was a great place to take a break from reality and enjoy the people in your life. While I would have enjoyed a little more outdoor light with a lantern I felt more than okay! Such a fun place with amazing little shops and things to do!

Views for ever from the balcony, peaceful, and quiet. At night, sit in the hottub (no need for the jets) and watch Mother Nature's own Planetarium with silence.

Cabin was very clean .
The hot tub was amazing.
Plenty of kitchen supplies & toiletries.
The fire place was super warm and cozy.
& the selection of games was great.
Negatives were that host stated tv worked, when it didn’t. No cell service the entire stay. & the hill to get up to the cabin was incredibly difficult for my 2 door sedan. Only after booking was it brought to our attention you need 4 wheel drive to get up to the cabin.

We had a great one night stay at the cabin. Actually appreciated the fact that it did not have service or WiFi, because it made us spend time together. We played some of the many available card games. If we were there for more than just one night, we probably would have enjoyed the kayaks.

Nice comfortable cabin, lots to do. No cell phone coverage (*at all for me - Verizon*) and no internet meant I was completely unreachable at the cabin. Nice for a secluded getaway but I was not expecting that. Very nice area, lots of hiking nearby. Love Berkeley Springs, cute little town.

Loved our stay, beautiful area, directions and informational tips so helpful.
Cabin was so neat and clean, games galore, kitchen neat clean and new, beds comfy, provision of kayaks was perfect, nearby access to Cacapon river. Hot tub was so nice. Everything was well thought out. Excellent host!

Close to Roman baths and Cacapon State Park and hiking! In Berkeley Springs, near community park, Town info center has maps and plenty of visitor info. Great place to visit!

Great place to unplug and get away from the real world for a bit. Be aware there is zero cell service, no internet, tv ect. But the hot tub is great and they provide a ton of family games. We found creek access and the dogs were able to run in the creek. It was very relaxing and the hosts were super nice!

Beautiful secluded getaway! The house was cozy & well decorated, with all of our basic necessities provided. Bed comfort was a 10/10!
It was so peaceful to be able to completely disconnect and just enjoy the nature & our company. Be aware at the house there is VERY limited service, if you must… download movies/music before you hit the mountain.
About a 4 min drive down the hill is the Cacapon River, where we could walk across on large rocks and splash around with the dogs.
Another 20 mins down the mountain (which has TONS of beautiful views and lookouts along the whole way) is a small town that has great antique shops and a yummy coffee spot!
Tony the host was 100% on point with his communication and information. Our next trip to WV we will definitely be booking with him again!
