Had a great one night stay! My kids enjoyed the outdoor space and the fire cauldron. The kitchen was well equipped with basics and we were able to cook on the gas grill easily. Tony and his team were responsive and made for a very easy checkin.

Staying in this cabin was an amazing experience. The updates made to this 223 year old home were ingenious, allowing it to keep the historic feel yet provide modern conveniences. Well stocked kitchen. Just the simple act of keeping the fireplace going on one chilly night brought to mind how people lived generations ago. Of course we could have used the baseboard heaters, but the fireplace was more of an adventure! The settling of such an old house makes the floors uneven, but after a bit we got our “cabin legs”, still giggling when we inadvertently leaned into each other on the small landing upstairs. Having two bathrooms was a real luxury for a home of this age! Staying here was a great experience. It’s rustic and private, but not really isolated. A neighbor even stopped by to chat about the area (he had been raised there), and everyone we met on our walks was friendly and more than willing to talk.

I was looking to get the “full West Virginia experience” with my first visit to the state by staying in an old, secluded cabin in the mountains—which Tony’s place absolutely was. The remoteness of it was great. The cabin itself is very charming too. My only complaint is the baseboard heaters were not working, so I had very little heat in overnight temps in the mid-thirties. When I informed Tony of this, he had told me a handyman would be out the next day to fix the issue. I ended up spending the day at Shenandoah National Park, thinking it would be good to get out of the cabin and let the handyman work. However, when I returned to the cabin around 11pm, I was surprised to realize the heat was still not working properly, and that the handyman had never ended up coming to the property. Aside from this, I had a good experience.

Great setting, historic cabin, beautiful scenery! This place was exactly what we needed as a retreat from D.C. for a long weekend. Would recommend!

If you love the outdoors..exploring the outdoors, hiking , seclusion.. tony’s place is perfect. He is also a great host, very responsive and helpful. My only , ‘but’, is the photos in the listing made the house and the rooms look much more bigger and brighter than what they actually are.
